5 ways to become indispensable as a Marketing Manager

5 ways to become indispensable as a Marketing Manager

Imagine walking into the building, people chanting your name, party poppers going off and money being thrown at you...

Ok, this might be a bit excessive but you get the idea.

It’s a wonderful feeling when you know you’re great at your job, we always want you to feel that way.

You may have been in your current role for a while or perhaps you’ve just started with a new company, either way - you want to know that what you’re doing is making a big difference. We want you to know that too, so here are our 5 ways to make sure you are on top of your game.

1. RELIABILITY AND RESPONSIVENESS

We’re a wide team who love creating a personal connection

As a marketing manager, you probably have many plates spinning at any given time, your ‘to-do list’ is often close to filling a whole page (or even notebook) and you are needing to make some quick, well thought out decisions about your companies marketing.

You want to know that the design team you’re working with are reachable, reliable and responsive to your needs. We’re heard the stories from marketing managers we work with, when a very well meaning boss shares a new ‘marketing idea’ they’ve had and would like to see happen well… yesterday.

It can be overwhelming and stressful, but we’re on your team. We want to see you succeed and more importantly, we’re here to make sure you can start ticking things off your list.

Whether you call, email or pop in - we will support you. it’s important you feel not just listened to, but heard and that’s something we’re really passionate about.

2. NOT TAKING RISKS

We do test jobs

When you’re holding the company's marketing in your hands, taking a risk with your design team is probably the last thing you want to do, but sometimes it’s necessary. It could be that your current designers aren’t understanding to you and what you need, or making time to meet your deadlines.

It can be challenging and unnerving to trial a new agency, so we do our best to make it as seamless and risk free as possible.?

We do this by always starting with a ‘test job’. This is often for a piece of work you already need doing, it can be small like a flyer or brochure and is a good chance for us to understand how best to work with you.?

You don’t need to be overly prepared, we will draw from you all we need to know to work through the project with you. You’ll be able to get a real sense of what it’s like to work together.

If at the end you feel it’s been a success, we can help you transition from your current designers, and if not - you still got the piece of work done that you needed, so you didn’t waste any time or budget.

“My rapport with Hullo was instantaneous and they instinctively knew exactly what I was after in terms of look and feel for our brand. The team have a real “can do” attitude and exude confidence. ??
Work is always delivered on time and to a high standard. In addition to print materials we have also worked on an animation together and Hullo came along to a training day to present to my team how to take better, more imaginative photographs. Hullo are always professional and nothing is ever too much trouble”
- Jane Spriggs, Marketing Manager

3. BEING INNOVATIVE

We’ll understand what the purpose is and come up with different ways of doing things - not just what you think you need

When you spend your day marketing the same products or services, it can be hard to think outside the box - that’s what we LOVE to do!

You may find that you need a fresh injection of creativity into what you do, a team to bounce ideas off and experts that understand what that means for budget and ROI.

We are fully aware that one size doesn’t fit all so want to make sure that what you receive has as many uses as it can. This could mean that instead of opting for the usual brochure to explain what you do, you chose an animation that shows what you do and can be reformatted for social media, used on your website, presentations and in client meetings. It’s captivating, clear and easy to digest.

Making sure you have what you need and not just ‘what you think you need’ is a big part of what we do.

4. BEING FULLY EQUIPPED WITH ALL THE RIGHT INFORMATION

We’ll make sure that you look good

Now that you have all these out of the box, brilliant ideas to make your marketing boom, you’ve got the task of taking it back to your leadership team and communicating it to them so they know where the budget is going and what impact it will have.?

You’re not alone. We want to make you look good and feel fully equipped to explain your ideas, the investment, what the timeline looks like for getting it done and what the end product will be. You will know what files you’ll be supplied at the end, who owns the rights and even how it could be used and reused in multiple ways.?

We can even supply you with a video to explain how we would go about working on the project to show to your decision maker, so you are always one step ahead.

5. WORKING WITHIN THE BUDGET

We know you have a budget, we will let you know other more cost effective ways to do what you want to

Lastly, and probably most importantly. Budget. We understand that sticking to a budget is crucial for building trust with your team, as we said before, we want to make you look good.?

When we work with companies, we take time to hear what they need, what they are trying to achieve, and what their budget is.?

At this point if we know that the print cost for that ‘spec’ is going to be over and above what they want to pay, or the cost for a certain subscription is going to push them over budget each month. We will talk about more cost effective ways they could approach it, change it or rework it.

We love to know what your plan is moving forward so that we can suggest ways to equip you into the future and not just for the immediate use to keep those ongoing costs minimal.

YOU CAN START SMALL, OR JUMP IN WITH BOTH FEET IF YOU’RE READY.

Whatever your situation, If you’re wanting to see if you can get more out of your design, we’d love to help.

What do you mean 'imagine'!? This happens every time I leave my house
