What is Adaptibility? Adaptability is the skill of an individual to adjust oneself in order to adapt to new environments or ever-changing situations. The ability to adapt is the key to surviving in situations that make you uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Here are 5 ways of ability that you should master to help you adapt, Way of Interacting, Way of Achieving, Way of Learning, Way of Working, Ways of Thinking.
Ways of Interacting
Way of Interacting refers to an individual's skill in effectively engaging with their surrounding environment. Throughout my participation in the Bangkit program, I was required to cultivate strong communication skills. So, how did I manage to interact effectively during the program? Firstly, I convinced myself that I hold equal value and dignity as others, which boosted my confidence and courage to ask questions, express opinions, and respond to inquiries. Secondly, I ensured my own comfort, eradicating any fear of speaking up. By implementing these two steps during ILT sessions, I found myself feeling calmer, more self-assured, and ready to voice my opinions to others, ultimately fostering a more positive self-image.
Ways of Achieving
Achievement is something successfully attained by someone, but it's not easy to attain what we desire. Throughout my participation in the Bangkit program, I have gained knowledge about ways to achieve something within a specific timeframe, one of which is through the soft skill of Time Management provided by the Bangkit program during the ILT sessions. Time Management is one of the methods or ways to manage time effectively. Additionally, I learned how to distinguish between what is important and what is not, and what needs to be done first. I apply this Time Management soft skill to complete every submission given by the Bangkit program, and by mastering this soft skill, I have successfully completed every submission on time.
Ways of Learning
Learning is one of the continuous and repetitive processes, with the goal of acquiring new knowledge and applying it in daily life. Throughout my participation in the Bangkit program, I experienced a different method of learning compared to traditional university education. The method implemented in the Bangkit program is self-directed learning through websites and other supporting applications, utilizing texts and videos as the primary media. Initially, I found it unfamiliar, but I managed to adapt to this method and turned it into a habit, making it a normal part of my routine. Additionally, during the Bangkit program, I learned to engage in discussions, accept criticism from others, and strive to change my mindset into a Growth Mindset.
Ways of Working
A task becomes easier when we collaborate with a team, a concept emphasized by the Bangkit program to encourage collaboration among individuals. Throughout my participation in the Bangkit program, I have made many friends from various regions in Indonesia, yet diversity has not been a barrier to collaboration. Additionally, I successfully adapted to utilizing Google Calendar to manage my time and became diligent in reading through modules provided on the Dicoding website. My success is also attributed to the application of Soft Skills acquired during the ILT sessions; for example, Time Management and Energy which guide us in managing our time effectively, and Stress Management which helps us tackle issues such as anxiety, fatigue, stress, and burnout.
Ways of Thinking
Mindset is crucial for everyone; with a positive mindset, we can solve problems in a logical, structured manner, yielding positive outcomes. Conversely, a negative mindset can lead to negative results. Through the Bangkit program, particularly during the ILT sessions, I learned to adopt a Growth Mindset, wherein I had to transform all negative thought patterns into positive ones. One example I successfully applied and experienced was my lack of confidence in speaking in front of many people before joining the Bangkit program. I used to think, "I'm afraid my voice sounds bad and they won't be comfortable with me." However, after the ILT sessions, I attempted to change my mindset, and now I can adapt without feeling insecure or embarrassed to express my opinions. Additionally, I now feel more optimistic all the time.
