5 Ways of Adaptability: Lessons Learned from My Journey at Bangkit Academy

Joining Bangkit Academy has been a transformative experience. Throughout the program, I’ve encountered different learning methods, working environments, and ways of thinking that required me to adapt. Here, I’ll reflect on five key areas where adaptability has helped me succeed and grow during my time at Bangkit.

Ways of Interacting

At Bangkit, I’ve had the opportunity to meet new friends, mentors, and instructors from diverse regions and backgrounds. This has encouraged me to adjust my communication style whether formal or informal. I also became accustomed to using English as the primary language in this environment. Since the program is conducted online, I’ve adapted to virtual interactions through platforms like Discord and Google Meet.

Ways of Achieving

As a Bangkit participant, I’ve had the freedom to set my own learning goals with the ultimate aim of becoming a "distinction graduate". The structured Weekly Timeline and Monthly Milestones provided by Bangkit have helped me stay focused and on track. These tools have been essential in ensuring I remain consistent and make steady progress toward my goal of graduating with distinction.

Ways of Learning

Bangkit utilizes multiple learning platforms, especially for my Cloud Computing learning path, such as Google Cloud Skills Boost (GCSB) and Dicoding. I’ve adapted to independent learning by engaging with the modules, watching instructional videos, and completing hands-on labs. When I face challenges, I use Discord for discussions and problem-solving, which enhances my learning experience.

Ways of Working

This batch of Bangkit has a shorter learning duration, which has required me to manage my time effectively. As a final-year student, I’ve needed to balance Bangkit with my university studies. By organizing a clear schedule and prioritizing tasks, I’ve been able to complete assignments from both Bangkit and my coursework efficiently and on time.

Ways of Thinking

Through the program, I’ve learned to recognize and shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. By participating in the product track for the capstone project, I’ve started to think more innovatively and open myself to new ideas and solutions. This has helped me become more prepared for challenges and find creative ways to solve problems.

I’m excited to continue applying these lessons as I pursue my career goals and strive to graduate with distinction from Bangkit Academy.
