5 Ways of Adaptability that I have Learned and Practiced during Bangkit Acadamey 2023

"Adaptability is not an act of surrendering your identity but rather a sign of maturity that helps you become a better version of yourself." - Vishnu Goyal

Human adaptability is the capacity of the human species to adjust to different environments, conditions, and circumstances. This adaptability can manifest in many ways, from biological and physiological changes to cultural and technological innovations. The ability of humans to adapt has been key to our survival and success as a species, allowing us to thrive in a variety of environments and overcome various challenges. For example, humans have developed physiological adaptations such as sweating and shivering to regulate body temperature in different climates, while also developing technologies such as clothing and housing to protect against environmental factors. Additionally, humans have developed cultural adaptations such as language, social organization, and belief systems that have allowed us to work together and solve problems collectively. Overall, human adaptability is a dynamic and ongoing process that is shaped by a variety of factors, including genetics, culture, and environment.

I'm Hilmah and these are the 5 Ways of Adaptibility that I have learned in Bangkit:

  1. Ways of Interacting

First, I learned to interact even with people I had never met. Because the Bangkit group doesn't have university friends, it forces me to understand how other environments work. I try to interact with people who have different experiences from mine.

2. Ways of Achieving

I learned to set and arrange things that I have to achieve in a certain time. I believe that setting clear goals and targets is the key to achieving success in life. Therefore, I always try to learn and improve my skills in determining and compiling things that I have to achieve in a certain time. In this way, I can manage my time more effectively and efficiently, and prioritize the tasks that are most important and valuable to me. Also, by having clear goals, I feel more motivated and focused on taking the actions needed to achieve my goals, and can measure and evaluate my progress on a regular basis.

3. Ways of Learning

In Bangkit, I was given the opportunity to explore different ways of learning and find the method that was most effective for me. After trying a few different learning styles, I realized that the visual learning style worked best for me. I can easily understand and remember information when it is presented in a visual form such as a picture, diagram or graph. By choosing a learning method that suits my learning style, I feel more motivated and successful in achieving my study goals.

Then at Bangkit we don't just study alone, I feel lucky because I have mentors and friends who help me when I'm having difficulties.

4. Ways of Working

At first I felt that I didn't have enough time to do all the work at Bangkit. Learning is not a static process, but dynamic and always changing over time. After finding an effective way of studying, I realized that I also had to adapt to different learning environments, such as when I had to adjust my learning rhythm on campus with the milestones I had to work on at Bangkit. This requires good adaptability and flexibility, as well as the ability to manage time and prioritize the most important tasks. I learned not to get too fixated on one way of learning, but to develop the ability to use a variety of ways of learning according to my context and learning needs. In this way, I feel more prepared and competent to face any learning challenges and difficulties I may face in the future. I believe that studying is not only about achieving certain academic goals, but also about developing abilities and skills that are useful in everyday life and in future careers.

5. Ways of Thinking

During my two months studying at Bangkit, I realized that learning is not only about understanding a particular concept or technology, but also about developing a more open and adaptive way of thinking. I learn to continue to grow and develop in my way of thinking, by constantly challenging myself and seeking new and different experiences. I also learned to think wiser and more critically, by carefully evaluating information and making more rational and informed decisions. Lastly, I learned to think maturely, by respecting other people's views and communicating effectively and politely. I feel very helped by this learning experience, and feel more prepared to face the challenges and opportunities that may occur in the future.

After I learned the five ways of adaptability, I found it helpful in improving my soft skills, especially in dealing with various changes in the environment that I faced. I learned how to better deal with culture shock and developed skills in dealing with people with different personalities. Apart from that, I am also able to deal with toxic people more wisely and express my opinion effectively.

One of the great benefits of learning the five ways of adaptability is my ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I now feel more confident in communicating with people who speak different languages and can adapt to situations. In addition, I can understand and appreciate differences and differences that exist, thus helping me build good interpersonal relationships.

However, changes and conditions also have a difficult side. I often feel homesick for my old cultural environment. However, with the adaptability I learned, I learned to appreciate and build a positive new environment and build new relationships with the people around me. In this case, the five ways of adaptation not only helped me improve my social and interpersonal skills, but also gave me the tools to overcome nostalgic feelings and enjoy life in a new place.

Thanks for sharing your insight! ??
