5 Ways of Adaptability I Adopted During Bangkit Academy 2024

Bangkit is a career readiness program that aims to produce highly qualified technical professionals for leading technology companies and startups in Indonesia. The program is fully supported by prominent local and international organizations, including Google, GoTo, Tokopedia, and Traveloka. The program's career readiness has been acknowledged by President Jokowi and commended by Minister Nadiem Makarim (Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology). Bangkit has successfully trained thousands of students from across Indonesia to equip them with the requisite skills for the technology sector at the Bangkit Academy.

Upon reflection, it became evident that this program is a highly sophisticated and excellent avenue for advancing one's understanding of technology. After embarking on this program, it became apparent that the existing knowledge base is highly pertinent and sought-after in the industrial realm. However, due to the transition into a novel environment, there were a few cultural challenges and habits that I had to alter to ensure my survival and adaptation to this program.

Here are the 5 Ways of Adaptability in Bangkit Academy 2024 that I did

1.????? Ways of Interacting.

At Bangkit, I interact with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, age groups, and personalities. It proved challenging to interact with them, particularly when the transition between online and offline interactions became a routine aspect of daily life. I acquired the ability to adapt my communication style and to comprehend the requirements and perspectives of others. Furthermore, a priority scale was established for communication purposes. This scale dictates that, in the event of an occurrence, the mentor should be informed immediately. Alternatively, if a situation is unclear, the individual may seek clarification from peers, discussion forums, or mentors. This adaptation fostered an increased openness, patience, and responsiveness in all situations, both in virtual team settings and in person.

2.????? Ways of Achieving.

In order to accomplish the objectives I have set for myself at Bangkit, I am driven by a sense of purpose in all of my endeavors. A sense of purpose is a crucial factor in maintaining motivation to complete projects and confront challenges. The tasks assigned by this program consistently present new challenges and opportunities for growth, fostering a sense of engagement and curiosity. Additionally, I have adapted to the established norms and culture within the team. For instance, through the Discord channel, I have gained proficiency in formulating effective inquiries and communicating with the Bangkit Program team. I have also come to recognize the value of collaboration and mutual support in achieving shared objectives, whether they pertain to minor tasks or significant projects.

3.????? Ways of Learning.

In Bangkit Program, I came to understand the significance of identifying mentors who can offer guidance and inspiration. I proactively pursued opportunities to engage in projects and events organized by Bangkit, which provided a platform for me to hone new skills and expand my knowledge base. Through this program, I came to understand that there are still numerous avenues for personal and professional advancement, and that this program was instrumental in enabling me to pursue and achieve such advancement.

4.????? Ways of Working.

The work environment at Bangkit encourages adaptation to various dynamics, including the arrangement of working hours and the use of productivity tools (available resources). I had to familiarize myself with working for six hours straight, while ensuring optimal productivity. The Dicoding, Google Calendar, Google Classroom, and Discord channel became important elements to master. Adapting to these routines and tools helped me maintain focus and effectiveness in solving every challenge.

5.????? Ways of Thinking

One of the most significant adaptations I underwent was a shift in my cognitive framework. At Bangkit, I developed a growth mindset, which is characterized by a desire to learn, grow, and embrace new experiences. Previously, I may have been more inclined to adopt a fixed mindset, which is often characterized by a fear of failure. However, through the various challenges presented by this program, I learned that failure is not a definitive outcome but rather a crucial aspect of the learning process. Having a growth mindset allows me to continually expand my knowledge and abilities.
