Hello Everyone!
My name is Farhan Adi Nugraha from the Mobile Developer path at Bangkit Academy, being part of Bangkit Academy led by Google, Tokopedia, Gojek, & Traveloka is a rare opportunity to develop myself to be better in terms of soft skills and hard skills. My experience during the 9 weeks at Bangkit Academy I gained a lot of valuable knowledge both soft skills and hard skills, new friends from various places and different backgrounds, and worked on modules according to the specified timeline. In participating in Bangkit Academy, of course, I have to adapt to a new workplace and environment as well as the targets that must be achieved for each milestone.
On Friday, October 6, 2023, I attended the ILT-SS-04-DD session which discussed Adaptability and Resilience with the instructor Kak Feryandi Nurdiantoro. This session discussed how to adapt according to the situation, conditions, and work environment. In this session, I got new knowledge about 5 ways of adapting, namely ways of interacting, ways of achieving, ways of learning, ways of working, and ways of thinking which adaptability is very much needed in the current VUCA era. For your information, VUCA Era stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complexity, and Ambiguity. This term describes the condition of the world that is constantly changing and volatile, without certainty, complicated and confusing. VUCA relates to the way people view conditions when making decisions, planning, managing risk, driving change, and solving problems. In this article, I will share with you all about my journey at Bangkit Academy related to 5 ways to adapt:
Charles Darwin quote on Adaptability :
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” - Charles Darwin
Ways of Interacting
At Bangkit Academy, every day I meet many people from various backgrounds, this requires me to learn to communicate well with others. In terms of communication, I realize that I am still far from good, but this does not discourage me and instead becomes my encouragement so that I can communicate effectively. I always challenge myself to face all the challenges that lie ahead of me. To start improving my communication skills, I started by daring to express my opinion in front of many people and actively asking questions in the ILT session. Then I am also not afraid to get acquainted with new people, this I do to improve my communication skills in dealing with people of different ages, languages, places, and different traits.
Ways of Achieving
“Who you are tomorrow begins with what you do today.”― Tim Fargo
In the Bangkit Academy program, cohorts are required to achieve targets that have been set according to milestones. However, even though the targets have been set by the Bangkit Team, we also have to set our own targets, I myself have a target to graduate as a Distinction Graduate, and to achieve this target is certainly not an easy thing, many obstacles and problems that I have to go through to get it. Starting from setting daily and weekly targets to complete courses and assignments Bangkit. Then even though I often face a problem I must not give up considering there is a goal that I must achieve. Feeling tired and down can be me but we still have to get up and keep the spirit to continue our struggle. rest assured someday our hard work will result in success. So, setting goals is very important friends because by setting goals it can really help us to stay focused, directed, and motivated in running various programs.

Ways of Learning
"Life is all about learning! Learning about the little things! Learning from all your mistakes!" — Unknown
In this era of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) where changes occur quickly and uncertainly, we are required to continue to learn like the latest technology and adapt to the surrounding environment so that we can survive in this era. If we do not do that we will be very left behind by others out there, therefore even though everything in this era is difficult to predict we must always be literate with technology such as what new features can be applied to android projects so that our projects will remain relevant. Merdeka campus is here to answer the problems left behind by the younger generation of Indonesia in this era, by presenting Bangkit Academy as one example, this program is designed with an industry-based curriculum or in accordance with industry needs. This is one way to advance the younger generation of Indonesia in order to reduce unemployment for fresh graduates. Then during this program I also feel comfortable with the learning method that matches my learning habits from the past, namely self-learning, this learning method I admit is effective in myself because by studying alone I will explore more. Then the timeline provided by Bangkit is also good in fostering the learning spirit of the cohorts to always work hard to complete their obligations in completing the course while improving their quality in order to survive in the VUCA era.
Ways of Working
In working, everyone must want to achieve success, this success will be determined by how well we can adapt to the environment where we work. Then during my time at Bangkit Academy, I entered a new environment that moved from studying at the campus. This of course adds to my experience in learning, here I have to obey the rules set by the Bangkit Team, learn according to the timeline that has been set, and learn Dicoding and work on projects using Android Studio and other tools. More or less later when working we must also be able to adapt to the work environment such as its rules, culture, and people.
Ways of Thinking
“The mind is just like a muscle - the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets and the more it can expand.” - Idowu Koyenikan
In the Bangkit Academy program, during ILT-SS-01 which discussed Growth Mindset and Fixed Mindset, I came to the conclusion that we are all born with talents and skills. However, if we have certain shortcomings like struggling with public speaking, being a beginner in coding, or having challenges with time management, we should not think that we are stagnant, stuck in the same place, or living a monotonous life. This mindset is called a fixed mindset, and with this mindset, it's impossible to achieve our dreams. Instead, we should adopt a growth mindset. With effort and hard work, we can improve all our abilities to become the best version of ourselves. This mindset is what keeps me from giving up, helps me stay strong in the face of obstacles, and makes me determined to hone my talents and skills. I believe I can achieve dreams that may seem impossible to others right now, as long as I transform into a better version of myself.
Conclusion
In conclusion, my journey at Bangkit Academy has not only equipped me with the essential skills required in the professional world but has also shown me the paramount importance of adaptability. This transformative experience has taught me that success is a product of continuous growth and the ability to swiftly embrace change. I now understand that significant progress can be achieved incrementally, even with just a 1% improvement. Bangkit Academy has reshaped my approach to learning, communicating, setting and achieving goals, working effectively, and nurturing a growth mindset, making me better prepared for the dynamic challenges of the VUCA era.
