The chameleon is often used as a metaphor for adaptability because it has the ability to change its skin color to blend in with its surroundings, making it difficult to detect by predators. Similarly, adaptability involves being able to adjust to new situations and environments by changing one's behavior or mindset, much like the chameleon changes its skin color. Both the chameleon and adaptability are characterized by flexibility, resilience, and responsiveness to changing circumstances.
Luckily, Bangkit Academy led by Google, Tokopedia, Gojek, & Traveloka presents soft skill material about adaptability, which provides some tips for mastering this skill. In this session, at least five ways of adaptation were presented, namely interacting, achieving, learning, working, and thinking. Well, in this article, I want to share experiences that I have applied, or want to apply while participating in the Bangkit program.
1. Interacting
Increasing interaction with fellow participants will increase chemistry. By interacting more often, we will understand each person better, and Bangkit program brings together people from various different backgrounds. Interacting more often will also improve our language skills when speaking in public forums. Some simple implementations that I have done include asking questions on forums when I experience confusion while studying material.
2. Achieving
When doing something, of course we have a goal to achieve. To achieve this goal well, we need to plan well too. My goal in joining this Bangkit program is to become an expert in the learning path that I follow, and some of the efforts I make to achieve this goal are to pay full attention to every session held by Bangkit and try to understand every material well.
3. Learning
Bangkit provides many courses that are very good and very relevant to current industry needs. While learning the course, of course, we will experience the occasional problem. For that, we need to ask people who are more skilled than us, or we can find out how to overcome our confusion about material that we don't understand. We can also join community discussion forums to find answers to the problems we face or just to find out the latest technology updates from the community, and if we want, we can also participate in other people's projects.

4. Working
Like working for a company in general, participating in Google's program also requires commitment. While participating in the program, we must comply with all predetermined conditions, such as attending all live sessions according to a predetermined schedule, completing all courses and assignments given using predetermined tools, and finally completing the capstone project. I believe that the curriculum compiled by Bangkit is the best.
5. Thinking
Thinking is an important component of adaptability. It enables individuals to navigate complex and uncertain situations, to learn from their experiences, and to develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a changing world. For that, the individual must have a growth mindset. Individuals with a growth mindset tend to be more adaptable and resilient, while those with a fixed mindset may struggle to cope with change and may be less willing to learn and grow. By cultivating a growth mindset, individuals can develop greater resilience, creativity, and adaptability, which can help them thrive in a constantly changing world.
Those are the 5 ways of adaptability. Each point has an important role for every individual who wants to adapt well. Being adaptable can help individuals, which can lead to greater personal and professional fulfillment. By developing adaptability skills, individuals can become more resilient, creative, and effective in all areas of their lives.
