~ 5 Ways of Adaptability ~

My first step in adapting began when I joined the Bangkit 2024 program. This process includes interaction, accomplishment, learning, working, and thinking. Here is a brief overview of how I adapted.

How to interact

At Bangkit Academy, students from different regions and universities in Indonesia gather. Here, I met people who have different backgrounds, from their way of speaking to their culture. We are encouraged to interact through learning sessions and final projects. At first, this was quite difficult for me as I had never had online friends before, let alone having virtual discussions. However, I tried to familiarize myself by being active on digital platforms such as Discord and Google Meet. Then I started to adjust and build good relationships with my new friends.

How to achieve

As someone new to cloud computing, I faced a huge challenge to learn. Short deadlines and the pressure to keep improving every day meant I had to apply agile methodologies and hone my time management skills. Although these tasks were complex, I didn't consider them a failure. After starting, I realized that I had to be brave to learn, and that was the choice I made. I started to force myself to learn slowly, ditched bad habits, and cut down on activities outside of the program that could interfere with my focus. Although I sometimes felt left behind by others, it motivated me to improve. Although I still feel like I'm making little progress, I'm grateful to be able to change slowly with the support of my friends.

Ways to Learn

During this program, I started making a list of daily routine activity schedules, getting used to living in time discipline and also being organized by spending 8 hours of study time, at first I objected to this learning method, but without realizing it brought a big change in my life, a person who prefers online learning, this is the right choice to live on, here I learn google cloud skills boost with complete video material and also a working lab for practice testing understanding which is accompanied by a guide to facilitate the learning process.

Ways to work

It is necessary to balance the time between learning and other activities, and complete the assignment on time so that there is no accumulation which will result in delays in the collection process, and if you want to relearn it, please complete it before the specified deadline, so that the remaining time can be used to review the problem you want to learn.

Ways of thinking

Here, I have to think creatively and critically, which encourages me to keep learning about things I don't know, either through discussions or social media. If I stay in my comfort zone, I will fall behind. Procrastinating is also not an effective way to deal with problems. I started to see challenges as opportunities to grow and innovate, not as obstacles. This way, I can face problems with a more positive attitude. For example, when a deadline is approaching, instead of feeling stressed, I prefer to come up with a structured plan that prioritizes my tasks. Breaking down problems into smaller, more manageable steps makes the problem-solving process simpler and more organized.

In summary, the Bangkit program has broadened my horizons and driven rapid progress since I joined last September. I feel very fortunate and proud of my amazing experience at Bangkit Academy, which is supported by Google, Tokopedia, Gojek, and Traveloka. I am excited to continue growing and becoming a better developer and person.
