Studies show that the costs of a disengaged workforce are HIGH.
Not only are they less productive, but they’re also less profitable and more likely to leave your business.?It’s important to recognize the signs so you can take action and get your team back on track!
Here are five tell-tale signs that should alert you to an issue with team engagement.
1. They Are Taking More Sick Days ??
Engaged teams in general take fewer sick days compared to their disengaged counterparts – it’s a key indicator that something isn’t quite right in the office environment. If your team has started taking more sick days than usual, it could be because they don’t want to come to work and would rather stay home than face another day in a place where they feel unfulfilled or unmotivated.
2. They Are Clocking In Late ?
If showing up late becomes a habit, it simply means they value their time outside of work more than the hours they are putting in for you. And if they are disengaged, you can’t blame them for wanting to put off the inevitable boredom or stress of their job. Try talking to them one-on-one about why this might be happening and see if you can find ways to make their job more fulfilling for them again.
3. They Aren’t Happy To Be At Work ??
We all have those days where we just don’t feel like getting out of bed, let alone going to work. But if your team is consistently unhappy from Monday through Friday, then something is definitely off balance within your organization. Take some time out of your day to ask each employee what would make their job more enjoyable for them – taking care of even small issues can go a long way toward boosting morale and engagement levels across the board.
4. The Quality Of Their Work Has Suddenly Dropped ??
They were doing great work before, now suddenly not so much? Maybe they aren’t meeting deadlines or are simply doing the bare minimum required by their position. If this is the case, it could be a sign that they have become disenchanted with their role and no longer feel supported by management or valued within the company culture – both key factors when it comes to employee engagement levels (or lack thereof).

5. They Have Started Applying For New Jobs ??
This is an obvious one; if your team is feeling no purpose or connection to their job anymore, then chances are high that at least some members will start looking elsewhere for employment opportunities soon after (if not already). Unfortunately, this means that unless you address any underlying issues quickly, you may soon have some positions needing filling!
Keeping an eye out for these five tell-tale signs should help you identify any issues with employee engagement early on before any real damage occurs in terms of productivity or profitability losses caused by an underperforming team.
If there's anything we've learned over recent years when it comes to business success, it's that having engaged employees makes all the difference - so pay attention and act fast whenever necessary!
But how do you stop teams from becoming engaged? ??
One thing that you need to do is get comfortable giving feedback. Too many leaders wait until it’s too late to correct bad behaviour or simple mistakes, and by the time they talk to their team members, they already have one foot out the door.?
