5 Vinyl Window Maintenance Tips for 2021

1. Clean the Tracks

Vacuum those tracks if needed. Take an old toothbrush or any soft brush, gently scrub with soap and water, and dry with a soft cloth! ProTip: the vents are removable, get in there and clean! look at all the dirt that builds up in there!

2. Clean the Frame

Take a clean soft cloth, grab that soap and water, and gently clean the frame. Avoid anything abrasive you don’t want to scratch the smooth vinyl finish, I prefer a clean Microfiber cloth. Also, avoid any harsh cleaners, they can seriously damage your frames! Repeat this inside and out to keep those frames looking like new!

3. Clean the Glass

 As tempting as it may be never use anything sharp or abrasive. Also, avoid using any caustic or petroleum-based cleaners. Just a simple glass cleaner and a soft cloth will do!

4. Lubricated Any Moving Parts

 Everyone loves a smooth functioning window! Use only silicone spray, make sure you don’t overdo it. Clean up any spills or excess. Open and close that window at least 5 times. Then boom you’re done!

5. Inspect Your Windows

First, check inside your home, check all around the window look for any discoloration that could be a result of water damage. Test the locks and latches, make sure they function properly. Check for any damaged caulking. Make sure all your Weep Holes are clear. (The little holes on the bottom exterior of the frame) these tend to build up debris over time. If they’re not clear, water can seep into unwanted areas and cause a lot of damage.
