5 truly awful jokes that will make communications professionals giggle

Warning: read on and cringe will ensue. Keep reading to the end for a nice surprise!

Why did the woman dump her marketer boyfriend?

A: Lack of engagement.

Are you producing content for content’s sake? Take this joke as your daily reminder to really get to know your audience. What makes them tick? It can be helpful to create an ‘avatar’ or an image of your ideal audience member. Picture them as an actual person. What are their hobbies and interests? What does their family life look like? And so on. Then, when you’re creating content, think about what would truly appeal to that person. Watch as engagement soars. Or get dumped!

I made a joke about organic reach on Facebook…

Nobody got it.

It’s the marketer’s age-old question (or at least since social media became a thing). Paid or organic? Sponsored social media marketing is tricky. It can hugely benefit your business….or it can drain your budget quickly. We are always of the opinion that organic is the foundation (your must-have), whereas paid-for advertising is a nice additional (nice-to-have). Start with the basics, build your community and then consider whether putting budget behind meaningful content could boost your marketing efforts.

What’s a marketer’s favourite drink?

Brand-y.

We recently refreshed ROI’s branding with a more modern colour scheme, lightening our blue and including a vibrant yellow, to better reflect our approach to business. We had a lot of fun working with agency Brandle to do this rebranding work. Businesses change, evolve and grow. Your branding needs to do that too. The logo and other design features you established 10 years ago may no longer resonate with you, your staff and your audience. Just like a new haircut, sometimes a little refresh can do wonders.

What’s a pirate’s favourite type of content?

A webinAAARRRR!

Hands up if you love a good webinar! Earlier in the year, ROI hosted its first accelerator via Zoom and it was such an uplifting experience and valuable networking opportunity.

Webinars can have loads of benefits including boosting brand awareness, generating new leads, nurturing quality leads and positioning your company as an expert in your niche.

Why did the digital marketer name his dog “Marketing?”

Every day he brings him a new lead.

Need we say more?

Keeping with the spirit of this very silly article, here is a cute snap of Freddie, a four-year-old cavoodle puppy sat recently by our marketing associate, Lee. Freddie featured in many a team Zoom and his work ethic was well-received by all.
