2021 may not be over yet, but when it comes to Learning and Development, there are multiple trending methods that have gained ground, since the beginning of the year. Today, I will just mention 5 of my preferred ones:
1. ?Mobile Learning
The main advantage of having the learning content delivered on mobile devices is the fact that it allows us to incorporate training into our daily routines. For companies or small businesses who choose this, learning becomes very accessible, as mobile phones are essential items for all of us.
2. Microlearning
Although it is not considered a novelty, delivering learning material in bite-sized pieces is still a preference and a trend in 2021. As attention spans become shorter every year, this option remains among the best ones, considering these microlearning units typically take under 10 minutes to complete.
3. User Generated Content
User-generated content is content created by employees or users, which may be moderated or reviewed by L&D departments or may not. It is probably one of the first things trainers or HR people think of when considering L&D transformation, and it works.

4. Edutainment
Learner attention has always been a focus, but considering the recent massive shift to online learning, keeping this attention has become more challenging. Edutainment blends education and entertainment to create fun and relevant learning experiences. The content should be enjoyable and make the learners visit the platform or the program regularly, thus making them learn effectively.
5. Social Learning/Peer Learning
Social learning has become popular more from the employee engagement perspective, rather than just being a training approach. People need other people, they need to interact and help each other, proudly share what they know and test their knowledge, too. This paints a great organizational culture picture, but it needs to be fostered by everyone, in order to work. Either in individual peer coaching or in discussion groups, people will learn both the information they need, and new skills completing their employee profile. Active listening, receive and give feedback or problem solving are just three of them.
While I am aware you cannot have them all 100% implemented in one organization, I am hoping I gave you at least one fresh for you and the team you are part of :)
