With the advancements in technology over the past decade, networking no longer needs to be done face to face.
Yes, we will most likely agree that it's hard to beat the power of looking someone in the eyes, adjusting to the subtle changes in their body language along with the immediate connection you make with a meaningful handshake.
Here are my top 5 tips on how you can make online networking effective and grow an engaging community, not just a pool of numbers.
TIP ONE
Work on introducing at least 5 people each month, to someone else within your network, whom you think could create a viable ongoing mutual beneficial relationship (that's 10 people every month).
TIP TWO
Write at least two recommendations every month for connections where you have experienced their value and/or service first hand. Make these meaningful, true and powerful as you are putting your brand on the line with every recommendation given.
TIP THREE
Ensure that when you are inviting someone to connect with you that you are always personalizing your connection requests. Let the person know of "the why" you are wanting them to join your 1st degree network and you theirs - NO, this is never ever the time to try and sell or promote!
TIP FOUR
Comment like you post. What I mean by this, is aiming to comment within your community's posts by adding value, assisting with further information or sharing your uplifting views which will majority of the time attract the light of positivity along with building a community of people you want to hear from.
TIP FIVE
Create the time to make tips 1 to 4 come alive. Plan for success when it comes to online networking. Work hard at this, be consistent and stay genuine. People will know when you are not being real and your authenticity will be questioned.
Try working this into your daily routine to not only grow your network but become a leader in networking.
Come say hello, feel free to follow or simply share your best online networking tip so we can all help others, along with improving ourselves.
Happy and successful networking to everyone.
