5 Tips for a Winning Proposal

As someone who’s created more proposals than there are days in a year (woah ??), I’ve learned that there are 5 magic ingredients to getting the YES from a potential client and winning that business.
Let's get into it:
1) Include a CASE STUDY
This is your opportunity to showcase your work - and more importantly, how you can help your potential client.
Tell them about a project that relates to the work they're looking for. Name the previous client (the more similar to the client you’re pitching the better), talk about their problem and tell them how you solved it.
2) Outline everything in your FEE
Instead of saying "website copywriting: $2,000," show the client what they'll get when they sign with you:
"1 kickoff call, 3 interviews with key team members, brand-voice development, refresh of all existing website copy: $2,000." Sounds way more appealing, right?
3) Address the client's PROBLEM
It's tempting to lead with your accomplishments as a way to engender trust, but clients want to know that you understand their problems and that you have solutions for them. Lead with what you can do for them before you talk about yourself.
4) Share a detailed TIMELINE
Sometimes I break this down into three phases. For a quick job, I'll explain what I plan to do week by week. The point is, it's important to show clients that you have your stuff together with an organized plan for sharing deliverables.

5) Show some PERSONALITY
YOU are the secret sauce to getting this project. Include language that comes naturally to you, speak to the client the way you'd want to be spoken to, and build that solid rapport from the get go.
