Online classes are no longer the newest big thing in education. In fact, because of the pandemic, almost everyone getting a college degree has taken some sort of online class. However, while this option for remote learning has its benefits, it can also be a difficult adjustment to make, especially if you’re used to attending classes in person. That’s why we’ve put together five simple tips to help ensure that your online class experience is a great one.
1.????Set a schedule and keep it
The science of setting habits is proven, and as an online student, you should take advantage of it. For example, blocking out specific times in your schedule for online learning is a great way to help yourself remember to do the work. It can also help you focus. You’ll see the benefits when you put this kind of effort into your online classes.
2.????Be prepared with technology
As advanced as technology may be, it’s not immune to problems cropping up at the last second. Remember that doing things right before the deadline, instead of giving yourself plenty of time beforehand, may come back to bite you if your technology suddenly becomes unreliable. By planning and being prepared, you can save yourself time and stress in the long run.

3.????Don’t be afraid to connect
Connecting with peers might seem easier to do in person. But your relationships with other students and professors can flourish with the right kind of effort and attention. You can reach out to your cohort about forming a weekly study group, collaborating on assignments, and preparing for exams. You can also attend any office hours your professors hold and actively respond when in online classes.
4.????Create a good environment for learning
When your home becomes your place of education, it’s not difficult to fall into feeling like you’re living at school without any sort of break. Having a dedicated place where you do your schoolwork can help abate this feeling. Additionally, filling the space you do your schoolwork in with inspiring things and not distractions can help you stay focused.
5.????Embrace the unique benefits of online education
Online education comes with incredible benefits. Commuting to and from school is a non-issue, making it possible to attend a university far from your home and connect with people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences. You can work at your own pace and benefit from professors who may teach at universities elsewhere. As you embrace and encourage yourself to enjoy the differences that abound in your online education, you’ll feel more fulfilled in every way.
Our hybrid program was designed with working professionals in mind. Core classes are held in person one evening per week and supplemented by a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous online learning.
