5 Tips to Scale and Excel at Interviews

5 Tips to Scale and Excel at Interviews

Imagine that you have one minute to explain to the CEO why you are the greatest person for the job. What will you say next? What distinguishes you the most, in your opinion? When it comes to interviews, there are a lot of candidates who fail to understand that it starts from the preparation.

Here are a few practices to avoid mistakes candidates make in their interviews:

1. UNDERSTAND THE JOB DESCRIPTION

This will help you to deeply understand the role and what it requires from you to be the best candidate. If you deeply understand the Job description you can prepare yourself better for the interview, because you will then understand how you need to sell and present yourself.

?

2. DO SOME RESEARCH

There are two things you absolutely need to research:

The company: Read about the company on their website. Try to do some research on the company in the specific city or country you are applying for, and write down the facts that caught your attention. This will help you answer in a more authentic way the question “Why are you interested in working in this company?”.?

Country & City: one of the mandatory questions in the interview will be why are you applying for this role. The best way to answer this is by doing research on the country and city, and not just saying that you would like to live abroad. Show them that you are aware of the place of work and the city

3. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR EMAIL & PHONE NUMBER

The most common path that recruiters communicate with talents is through your valid phone number and email address submitted. They will be sending you information and schedules for your interview. Create the habit of checking your phone and email at least once a day after applying and during the selection process, to be updated. Also, on the interview day double check before the interview to make sure no changes on the schedule occurred.

“The only way of getting better at doing interviews is preparing yourself and doing interviews. Don’t forget that job opportunities are everywhere. You need to choose a job that makes you happy, develops you for the future and that challenges you every day. - Selene Lara, EATON

4. SELL YOURSELF& BE HONEST

?Every recruiter has a different approach to interviews, but the best way to be ready is to anticipate every question they might ask and try to write down your responses. Talent Recruiters are accustomed to seeing candidates lie to land a job, and they have become specialists at spotting it. Don't begin with having unrealistic expectations for them. Be honest and authentic. Better than pretending to know something is being open to learning new things.

?

5. FOLLOW UP PROPERLY AFTER THE INTERVIEW & ASK FOR FEEDBACK

It's common to have to wait a long time after an interview, therefore by the end of your interview, request the following steps in the procedure. You can send the recruiter a kind email asking for the next steps if the process is delayed for longer than a week. Don't be upset if they don't call you right away; keep in mind that businesses can't always do their tasks as quickly as possible. It's always a good idea to know how you did, whether you got the job or not. Ask the recruiter for comments if you didn't obtain the job so you can improve and find another opportunity in the future.

?Scaling and excelling at interviews is one of the pain points of talents. It is important to note that no matter how high you think the company or organization is, you can rightly position yourself and be ready to show yourself as the best candidate for the job. These are a few basic steps that can be engaged in to successfully participate and excel at the interview for your dream job.
