5 Tips On Retaining Talents.
Apparently 75% of "I quit" is caused by the leader. Makes sense, as the leader can shift or add to the scope of duties, so the position is challenging and fulfilling. The leader will either inspire or not. And also the leader is setting up a tone of communication and culture.
Let's say if you were to apply to the same job you are in now, would you do it? Great exercise for revising if your job is still a fit, if leadership style is supporting your growth and if the current culture in the company is aligned with your values.
So can we actually retain talents? Short answer - NO.
1. You can not retain. You can only Inspire.
People are growing sometimes faster than an organization/role/responsibilities. They may outgrow and leave and we have to live with it. The world is small and very round, its important to handle such situations graciously.
2. You can inspire with the flexibility of work.
Companies, which are not familiar with remote setup are afraid of employees not working enough. Although its burnout, that we should be careful about. Goal-driven professionals perform well when the clear goal, timeline, and resources are provided.
3. Inspire during recruiting and onboarding.
1 in 4 employees quit during the first 90 days. I know, it's hectic, when we are managing pipelines of candidates and everyone is busy with daily work when new people are coming. Although if an employee is a customer, that's their journey. Think about it.
4. Constructive criticism? Please don't.
We keep dwelling, putting focus and energy into what did not work. What about putting the same amount of time and effort into dissecting successes? It's a great practice for repeating wins and its appreciation with "thank you and for what exactly".
5. Invest in tools and technology for all of your employees!
So many things can be automated. Manhours are way too precious to waste them on administrative, boring, repetitive (read brain-damaging) activities. Let's create more space for employees to be Humans and nurture creativity, empathy, joy, and efficiency.
If you are looking for inspirations on tools and technologies, I strongly recommend review in the previous article. I hope it helps.

3 年Proceeding with the topic of a good work environment, I would love to invite you to our open workshop tomorrow: "Why are we having this meeting?", "It is just wasting my time", "It could have been an e-mail", "I do not have time for actual work because of these constant meetings". I am a huge fan of efficiency and working for the sake of outcome, not for the sake of imitation of work. Yes, I know, I am offering ANOTHER meeting, but takeaways should enable deleting 9 out of 10 meetings per week. This means: - Freeing up a whole day weekly - or saving 2,5k USD worth manhours in your company weekly https://liv.it/events/how-to-have-better-meetings-july-2021/
