Recruitment is a challenging industry, especially in these challenging times with the lowest unemployment in the EU and an overheated labour market. Recruiters are forced to discover recruitment in new ways and approaches and are always looking for more options to reach new candidates and, more importantly, to engage them. I've put together 5 tips to make our recruiting more effective.
1. Sourcing, LinkedIn, Boolean search.
Candidates are not existing anymore. Who doesn't know this phrase? That's why we must not passively wait and hope that by a lucky chance our candidate will show up and send a CV, but go ahead of chance. We have to source. Actively looking for candidates is essential. Primarily, everyone focuses on LinkedIn, which is of course an excellent choice. That's why I recommend studying its workings and how to create a good personal profile as thoroughly as possible. You should know Boolean search by heart. If not, you need to do something about it. There are plenty of tutorials on the internet on how to create the best string. So google and boolean it. Keep in mind that LinkedIn isn't the only source, and research others.
2.???Be a bit of a marketer. Sell the candidate what they're looking for.
Laptop, home-office have long been no longer an attraction or perks, but rather a necessary basis to do the job. That's why it's advantageous to observe what candidates want to hear, what they are often looking for and find their motivations, which can differ from candidate to candidate. Do they value your company education, work-life balance setup, healthy food or sports activities? Then take advantage of this and emphasize it in job postings, job descriptions, and address these topics on your company's career pages and social media. Or define your EVP and use that in external communications towards candidates.?
3.???Leave what is no longer working.
Look for and try new opportunities. Adverts on portals that used to bring in loads of profiles no longer work? Leave them alone and find new portals or a completely different approach. In addition to the constant changes, the market is always bringing new approaches, job boards, databases, systems, so keep trying. Don't resist new terms like "digital recruitment" or "recruiter branding" and try to move with the times. Follow trends and use those that are effective for your purposes. Keep what works for you. Leave what no longer works in the past.?

4. Great candidate experience.
Collect feedback from candidates. Find out how they liked the selection process, what they would change, what they would leave out, what they missed. This is valuable data that is the cornerstone to further improve the recruitment process. And ask not only those who passed the selection process successfully, but also those who failed, their opinion counts too. Include the NPS in your survey and schedule regular reviews of the results so you know how you're doing.
5.???Education, education, education.
As fast as the job market changes, so does all recruiting and technology. The world is going digital and we need to move with the times. So work on yourself, go to conferences, HR meetings, online events and listen to what others' perspectives are. In addition to new perspectives, you will also learn how you compare to your competitors and expand your network. As they say, work on yourself, no one else will do it for you.?
One final piece of advice is to persevere, quality work always pays off in the end and bears fruit.
Good luck with your recruitment these days!
