Looking at my posts with the highest total engagement (reactions + comments + share) in 2021, I came up with these LinkedIn tips that you can use to get you started in content creation here on LinkedIn:
1: Do you enjoy writing? Create an all-text post. It still works.
All text is still working for me in terms of both reach and engagement. And I'm glad because this is the easiest format that I can create in a few minutes.
LinkedIn Tips: Observe which content format works for you and do more of it. If all text does not work for your audience and if, for you, it's not a sustainable format to produce, then, you don't need to use this format.
2: Want to reach a unique set of audience? Create a LinkedIn newsletter.
LinkedIn Newsletter is a holy grail for long-form content. Finally, LinkedIn gives us an opportunity to get more viewership and engagement than we could get through regular, individual articles!
Although I've just launched my Newsletter in Nov. 21, 2021, the first edition landed on my Top 21 posts in 2021 in terms of engagement.
LinkedIn Tips: Turn on your Creator Mode to have access to the Newsletter.
You will gain access to Newsletters if you meet these criteria set by LinkedIn:
3: Is your post useful, relevant and relatable? Then, you don't have to worry about external links.
For years, in general, LinkedIn posts with links like third-party articles get very limited reach and engagement.

However, in 2021, and even in the late 2020, I noticed that adding links to our posts is no longer that bad — as long as the content is highly relevant, useful and relatable to your audience.
LinkedIn Tips:?Write the caption as if you're directly talking to your target audience. If possible, highlight the insights that are relatable and useful to your own audience.
4: Want to connect with your audience? Tell your story. Share your journey.
Every single year, I see stories among my most engaging posts and among those with the highest reach. People enjoy stories. It helps them get to know you on a deeper level. And this helps you gain their trust.
Whether you're on LinkedIn to get a job or get clients, remember that telling your story goes a long way. If you want people to do business with you, you have to share a bit of yourself. And do it authentically — through powerful storytelling.
LinkedIn Tips:?Tell a story that shows what you stand for. Frame your personal story to align it with your professional brand, if possible. Format it well so it's easy to read on the feeds.
5: Want to attract like-minded people? Don't be afraid to take a stand.
There's already too much content going around. Instead of saying what people want to hear, try saying what many others might not have the courage to say — although they have the same thoughts.
When you take a stand, be ready to receive comments from people who agree and disagree with your perspective. And that's the good thing about this type of post - you get to see other perspectives and you attract like-minded people.
LinkedIn Tips: Don't try to blend in. Strive to differentiate yourself from the crowd through your content. That's how you get noticed and make an impact.
