5 tips from “Game Of Thrones” Characters You Can Apply on Your Business
So HBO has announced that the final season of Game of Thrones will premiere on April 14, 2019. This means that soon enough, we all find out the ultimate fate of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and the rest of the team.
But… have you ever thought what can you take from the Westerosi’s behavior? I believe we can learn so “do’s” and “don’t do's” from 5 main characters:
1. Daenerys Targaryen - Connect with Dragons
Daenerys knew right from the beginning what every CEO and founder should know: A team brings A team. B team brings C team… Meaning: always aspire to have your dragons: That team that is from one hand homogenous and from the other hand talented enough to run with you the marathon of your business. Team is one of the most important elements in your business success. Daenerys knows it. That’s why she will be sitting at the iron chair with her throne.
2. Jon Snow – Non Desistas Non Exieris
Not everybody starts from the same line. Ask Jon Snow. The “bastard” never gives up, especially when he knows the threat coming from the White Walkers. He continued fighting for his team, family and inner truth the entire show, and I believe that his persistence will pay off. Be persistence. There are many obstacles in your day-to-day. Do not give up. Be Jon Snow.
3. Cersei Lannister – Family above all
The most intelligent woman in TV history. The true queen, the mother of all snakes and master plans. Cersei knows very well what she’s doing, but one thing is the most important thing for her: Family. For your business you should follow Cersei: You team (family) is the most important thing. Take care of them. Always act for their benefit. Be like Cersei taking care of her sons.
4. Tyrion Lannister – Always have plan B ready
You can have your disadvantages of course, but always be resilient enough to carry Plan B. Do not use it. Just hold it in case of emergency. Tyrion Lannister is the perfect example for a consultant who knows his limits, but always ready to take the next step that nobody expected and make the “surprise element” the key for success. Tyrion knows his market, his competition and his clients. He has plan B ready. You should hold one too.
5. The Night King – Patience is a Virtue
Last but not least: the only patient character that waited thousands of years, with so much patience that you can only admire. The Night King is patient, knows exactly where he is going and by doing that – managed to gather an army of White Walkers (and one Dragon). The Night King is arguably the most powerful military force in Westeros. And he’s in a prime position to make his army stronger by sweeping across the North. Be patient with your business and strategy. It does not always go as you initially planned. But if you will be patient, chances are that you will get your Dragon…
