5 tips for Effortless Living

On Saturday, April 30th, I grew older and like all milestones in life, I took a step back to evaluate how far I have come. Life has dealt me several cards both good and bad but we are out here happy, hydrated, and moisturized.
Last year was a roller coaster from scaling?Mt Kilimanjaro the rooftop of Africa to being unemployed for a minute and beginning 2022 at the highest point in Uganda Margherita in the Rwenzori Mountains, from running a department to running a Fintech! What a year it has been! Here are my five tips on how to navigate life.
1.??????Embrace Change: Being open to change is a game-changer (pun intended), I wrote an article on how to handle change a few years ago. Life is a lot more exciting and worthwhile when you can pivot easily. I have learned that change is uncomfortable and we are never ready for it but once you have a sort of ritual that you can follow to adapt to change the easier it becomes.
2.??????Have an anchor. Anchors help weather storms in life. Many times, life can be overwhelming and scary and you might feel that it is beyond your control. Anchors give you roots that ground you in yourself – your mind and your body, you can hold on to when you feel overwhelmed, that makes you feel calmer, more at ease, and surer of yourself, they can be anything a book, sports, hiking, singing, meditation etc., they remind us of our goals, our values and who we are.
3.??????Find A mentor. The importance of having a mentor, or multiple mentors, throughout the course of one’s life cannot be overstated, having different mentors for different areas of your life is the approach I have taken. A mentor can serve as a sounding board during times when difficult decisions need to be made. Mentors can help you grow a professional network by connecting you to others. A relationship with a mentor who provides knowledge and support can assist you in answering even the toughest of career questions. Mentoring does not need to be a long-term commitment; even a one-time time conversation can positively impact your life trajectory. Many thanks to Ma and Hassan Saleh

4.??????Be a Boss about your finances. It is important to make money to have the quality of life you envision, so handling your money by either saving and investing, having multiple sources of income goes a long way to a quality life.?When you are financially independent, there are countless doors that could open to you. You don’t necessarily have to know exactly what you want to do once you achieve financial independence, but once you are there, you will have the freedom to do what you want or need to do, without worrying about income
5.??????Family and friends. A good support system is what binds all the other four tighter, you need a support system that is bound with cords of love. They are important for both physical and mental health. Each of our lives is packed with unexpected experiences. It is essential to have a strong support system that will guide you every step of the way and help support you no matter what.
In life, we really need to find what works for us and I cannot stress enough how having these five elements has allowed me to navigate life in a way some people might consider effortless. Like all good things in life, it requires you to put in the work and sow seeds. Once they are sown you have to nurture them and then watch them bear fruit.
