5 tips to create more health

In this World Health Day I want to share 5 tips with you for creating good health.

First I’d like to clarify that health is more than absence of disease. Health is about being at ease in our mind, body and heart. It includes our mental, physical and emotional health.?

Here are 5 tips for creating more health.

1- De-stress

Stress is one of the key factors that contributes to ill health on all levels. And with all that the world is going through—the coronavirus pandemic and its negative impact o our lives, climate crisis, wars, our busy lifestyle in our fast-paced modern world, etc.—there are many stressors that are triggering our stress response. It’s important to have strategies and tools in our toolbox to de-stress and learn to bring ourselves to a state of ease. The book Grow Your Mind, Grow Your Life shares 7 simple strategies to de-stress.

Our mental health is a crucial aspect of our well-being that affects our physical and emotional health. When our mind is not at ease, our body and heart won’t be at ease either. It is important and rewarding to have a daily routine of looking after our mental health. Meditation is a wonderful practice that systematically trains the mind to focus and to be at ease. If you’re new to meditation, here is a free 5-minute guided meditation to take you to a state of relaxation and inner peace.

3- Exercise?

Our bodies are designed to move. And exercise is a great way to move the body. It pushes more blood to your brain, helps to relax your muscles and relieves tension in your body, among its many benefits. Look for opportunities to exercise or to include more activities to your days. American Heart Association recommends to get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity?or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity, or a combination of both, preferably spread throughout the week.

4- Go to nature

Nature is a great healer and a great teacher. Science shows that spending time in nature has many health benefits, including improved cognition, reduced stress and anxiety, reduced blood pressure, and improved immune system function. Find ways to spend more time in nature and connect with its healing effects. Take a nature walk or do gardening, for example.

5- Slow down

Packing our days with endless tasks is tiring for our brain and our body and is not good for our well-being. Add to this the constant distractions we face from our digital devices and looking at screens that add tension to our mind. In our modern world that keeps our mind overstimulated and our brain overactive, it is important to consciously slow down to give a rest to our mind and our body. Taking a pause to slow down is a skill that is necessary in today’s busy world to keep our mind, body and emotions at ease. The strategies shared in the book Grow Your Mind, Grow Your Life are simple ways to take a pause.

Our health is our wealth. It is worth adopting simple strategies to keep our mind, body and emotions at ease to enjoy a thriving life.?
