5 Times Your Vehicle is Trying To Warn You About Something
While some car sounds are easy to decode, certain sounds can be confusing. If your car has been trying to communicate with you in a language you don’t understand, it’s time to address the elephant in the room.
Knocking
A constant knocking sound– like when metal collides, coming from your engine could indicate engine damage. The common causes of this notorious sound are faulty spark plugs, worn bearings, and bad knock sensors.
Ticking?
A ticking sound (typically like a ticking clock) could indicate low engine oil levels or other internal issues.?
Screeching/Squealing?
Hearing any of these two sounds could indicate that your car is experiencing power steering issues, brake problems, or battery drain. It could also mean that the serpentine belt responsible for transmitting power to your engine’s alternator, water pump, and power steering pump is worn or loose.?
Hissing?
Hissing sounds indicate a leak in the exhaust system or other internal parts of your vehicle.
Squeaking?
This sound is mostly heard while attempting to turn a car and happens when low power steering oil levels cause air to enter the system. The trapped air then produces a wide range of unpleasant noises, including?the squeaking sound you hear every time you make a turn.
If you hear any of the above sounds, get your car checked by a professional as soon as possible and invest in proper maintenance. Remember, regular maintenance using high-quality lubricants can help prevent strange car sounds and damage.
