Real-time alerts are essential for fleet managers to having up-to-date information about your fleets and maintaining better control.
Here we list a number of different alerts that will better help you run your fleet management. I'm not going to cover GEOfencing alerts in this post as I’ve previously covered that in our ‘GEOfencing Explained’ blog post.
- Harsh driving alerts are really important for you keeping running costs down. This will help you ensure that your vehicles last you longer and require less repairs when it comes to servicing. If a driver in your fleet is braking hard too often or continually accelerating outside of what is acceptable, you will receive an alert as well as have the historical logs which you can use to retrain the driver.
- Of course, speed alerts are very serious and within normal health and safety protocol, it is unacceptable to have your employees exceed speed limits. Be alerted instantly if this arises and you can send a quick message to your driver to slow down. Not to mention avoid hefty speeding fines!
- SOS and Distress buttons are typical in most high-end GPS tracking devices. This works for when your employee comes into a situation where they believe they require assistance. With the Distress button, receive an SMS or email immediately and you can then call to confirm. If external assistance is required, you have the exact location ready. Furthermore, it’s possible to use the GPS tracker directly via a voice call. In an emergency situation, knowing the exact location can be critical.
- A notification can advise you when it’s time to service your vehicle, making your life easier!
- For GPS devices not connected directly to a power source (eg. For a bicycle), then you will be notified when it’s time to recharge the battery, allowing you to recharge in a timely manner that is convenient for you. No last minute stress of trying to half recharge your GPS device to be able to use it.
OK, I promised you 5, but here’s an extra one!
- If you have temperature controlled cargo, with a temperature gauge connected to your GPS device, you will be alerted if the temperature is not appropriate. This also allows you to have historical data of your cargo’s temperature.
Now you’re up-to-date with nearly all the major alert functions that are the most commonly used and important.
