5 things you can learn online at home this weekend

Given the current situation, many of us will be stuck at home this weekend with ample free time. In lieu of going on vacation, this weekend may be the perfect opportunity to learn something new at home.

If you’re sick of the 1000-piece puzzle that’s half-finished in your living room, and baking sourdough is not for you, why not think about enhancing your professional skillset with an online course.

Online courses are an excellent way to learn a new skill. Designed to help you develop your skills in a fun and flexible way, online courses have a high return on investment. For very little money, or even none at all, you can learn from industry experts and challenge yourself to pick up skills you never thought you’d learn.

So, here’s my roundup of 5 things you can learn at home this weekend:

1. Presentation Essentials: How to Share Ideas That Inspire Action

This one of my favourite courses to make your next presentation unforgettable and banish your fears of public speaking. It’s taught by Simon Sinek who you might know from his famous TED Talk on starting with ‘Why’ - https://www.skillshare.com/classes/Presentation-Essentials-How-to-Share-Ideas-That-Inspire-Action/285436623?via=user-profile

2. UX/UI Design with CareerFoundry

CareerFoundry has some excellent courses to help you build a career you love. You can start with one of their free short courses straight away to discover which design field best suits you – from UX design to Web Development. We previously had CF founder Raffaela on the SLACEO podcast, so if you’re a longtime listener you might already know that we love this course - https://careerfoundry.com/

3. Learn a language with Duolingo

If you’re looking for a fun way to learn a new language, I would recommend starting with Duolingo – it’s easy and fun to use. There are a multitude of languages to pick from and you’ll be guaranteed to see your skills improving almost instantly. Try it here - https://www.duolingo.com/

4. Personal branding with Oliver Aust

I have to, of course, recommend the brand-new online course that the team at Eo Ipso has developed on personal branding. From cracking the LinkedIn code, to creating your own website, this course covers all the essentials of building your online presence.
