Chamber Applauds Signing of Law to Enable Business Improvement Districts
PRESENTED BY THE CHICAGOLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?
With the passage of SB 3679 last week, local communities and commercial corridors will have the ability to establish Business Improvement Districts (or BIDs) that will help businesses and property owners help design, build, and bring about improvements to Chicago’s commercial corridors. The Chamber is proud to have played a critical role in this effort, which was led by legislative champions House Assistant Majority Leader Kam Buckner (D-26) and Senator Sara Feigenholtz (D-6). We also collaborated with many local business organizations to help create this legislation.?

Small Business Survey: Where Chicago Stands, and Where It Is Headed

The numbers are in, and it turns out Chicago’s small businesses are doing pretty well these days. Chicago’s small business job index improved for the second-straight month in June, according to the latest data from the Paychex Small Business Employment Watch. With an index level of 101.35, Chicago is ranked fourth among the largest U.S. metropolitan areas, signifying notable job gains for the city. ? ??

Chamber Celebrates Disability Pride Month with Event on July 10

Disability Pride Month occurs each July in honor of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990, a landmark civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on disability. This year, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce is excited to contribute to this effort by hosting our inaugural Breaking Barriers: Empowering Disability Advocacy event on July 10. This event, part of our UNITY series and curated by our Emerging Leaders Council, will feature TedX-style presentations focused on disability advocacy, workplace accessibility, and neurodiversity.
