5 things we learned from Celonis customers at Celosphere 2022
With Celosphere 2022 in the books, it's time to ask the key question: What did you learn?
Asking this question in business is critical and fortunately, Celonis has a roster of customers who shared best practices, tips, and key themes.
Here's a look at what we learned from customers at Celosphere 2022 (watch the on-demand replay).
1. Efficiency is the defence vs. inflation as well as a cultural change agent.
Celonis customers see efficiency as the primary way to battle inflation. Efficiency was a common theme at Celosphere.
Perhaps efficiency being a big topic isn't surprising with a bunch of process excellence enthusiasts in one place, but we'll let Mark Klein, Chief Digital Officer ERGO Group and Chair of the Board of Management of ERGO Digital Ventures AG, tell it:
"We cannot push all the costs through to customers. We have to become more efficient through digitization. What we need is the full transparency of an end-to-end process. We need to create this transparency."
(Klein’s fireside chat with Celonis co-CEO Alex Rinke is worth a watch)
2. Structure and Centers of Excellence (CoE) are required to scale process excellence.
CoEs were a big topic at Celosphere, but what stuck out for me is that every company had its own operating model. What works at Reckitt may need tweaks at Bayer or Nokia.
However, a common thread is that companies are constantly evolving their CoEs. Bayer and Nokia both offered a series of thoughts about scaling CoEs and how they drive realized value.
3. Process digital twins have been implemented and customers are looking to scale.
Process digital twins were a hot topic among customers. One customer had 15 deployed.

Others were building process digital twins and noted that the addition of Celonis Process Sphere will help scale the efforts. Credibom presented its digital twin and process simulation efforts.
Dr. Detlef Kayser, Member of the Executive Board, Fleet & Technology at Lufthansa Group, said process intelligence has to operate at scale at a company that conducts 2,600 flights a day. "What you hear in the news, you'll see in your operations a few minutes later," said Kayser.
For instance, the processes behind Lufthansa must adapt to everything from airspace capacity during conflicts, regulation, weather, airport infrastructure and safety.

Lufthansa is currently standardizing data ingestion and harmonizing it, creating digital twins of operations, and feeding a solution generator that can adapt to multiple scenarios for crew, aircraft, passengers, and dispatch.
Gartner also noted that digital twins of an organization will proliferate in the years ahead.
4. Sustainability is becoming operationalized.
Multiple customers are melding sustainability and supply chain process excellence.
Multiple processes in supply chain, logistics and procurement also apply to sustainability goals. To that end, Celonis launched two applications for sustainability.
5. New use cases for process mining and execution management are endless.
I'll call out Emporix Commerce Execution Platform and its co-innovation partnership with Celonis and Celonis Labs as an obvious example of a front-end use case, but many customers were looking into new use cases including HR, customer experience, and research and development.
