5 Things that make a Good LinkedIn Profile:

A good LinkedIn profile can help attract recruiters, build good network & build your personal brand. Here are the most important things about your LinkedIn profile.

1. Profile & Background picture: This is what everyone sees first when they click on your profile. You may have seen several folks upload informal pictures & many keep the default LinkedIn background picture. This is your visual profile.

2. Headline: This is what they will read about you when they open your profile the first time. It will make them interested in your profile. This is also the title of your story. This is what recruiters read.

3. About: This is where they read your story. It should be interesting for someone to read. Many folks write only a few lines. This is a wonderful opportunity to make an impression. This is what hiring managers read.

4. Activity: This is what you do on LinkedIn - comments, posts, articles, reactions, shares. This shows how you engage with people on LinkedIn. This gives evidence if you walk the talk. This is the most important. I always go through this before I speak to or meet anyone.

5. Evidence: This is about your education, work experiences, recommendations, certifications, volunteering. Recruiters look at these. Work Experience with details, education details & skills can tell your story better. It also gives evidence of your skills & experiences.

4 Things which tell you about your Brand on LinkedIn:

1. Who viewed your profile - You can find this on your profile page just after the About section, it is part of "Your Dashboard". This tells you how many people viewed your profile in the last 90 days. People will view your profile only when your content is being liked by them or you are making a difference to them or they are interested in your profile. This also gives you a trend over 90 days.

2. Views on posts & articles - The number of views your posts or articles get clearly shows the quality of your content. Getting views on articles is tough because few people have the time to read them.

3. Reactions/Comments on posts & articles - This indicates engagement. The more it is the better it is.

4. Followers: You will find this just under activity, you can also see who they are from "Manage your followers". The number of followers indicates how many people you are able to influence & impact. It simply shows the number of people who trust you.

Great content! I agree, depending on a your values, profession and most of my candidates/clients are confidential. Additionally I could not handle recruiters recruiting me for their clients recruiters. For some less is more.
