Coaching is Personal: Stop Calling It Coaching When You're Training
5 Things that Make "Coaching" Coaching
Stop Calling It Coaching When You're Not
Minimalism means maximizing freedom (so nothing owns you).
Here's the thing:
As far as money goes...Your economy will only get worse if you don't sell something.
I'm not talking about inflation or supply chain or holding on to something that will retain or increase in value.
Budding entrepreneurs reach out to me for coaching and sometimes they'll ask for help because they've been working on a project foreverrrrrrrrrrr and haven't made money yet.
"What should I do?," they ask.
First thing I ask them:
When is the last time you asked someone to pay you?
Lol.
Gets real super fast.
How do you make money if you don't ask people to pay you (or have a way for sales activities to happen)?
Lol.
Simple, yet profound.
People tend to not think logically, do we? :-)
If "work" to you means that it translates to money, then you haven't worked a day in your life if you're not making money. Is that correct?
I don't believe that work has to translate to money, however, most people do.
By your own definition: If you believe your work should be making you money...and it's not...then you're preparing to work, but you're not working.
Work that makes money requires sales activities.
Simple.
Period.
But I digress...
I know coaches / experts that don't talk to people anymore.
They want to "scale."
Fricken robots.
You can scale and still be a human!
This is the kind of attention prioritization we need.
It's not coaching when you're talking to a bunch of people. That's called training.
Find a coach that will look for your talents and listen to your ideas and help you understand your true goals.
Your goal beyond the money goal is what tracks.
What's the job of the goal?
These are your own ideas and dreams.
What is the difference between coaching, training and consulting?
Coaching is personal.
Training is for the many.
Consulting is an expertise shared (generally) with an organization.
In my coaching work, we create business models (that solve for the problem that a new solution will create) and sales strategy to around your ideal personal values and lifestyle.

ALIGNMENT: PURPOSE - PRIORITY - PROJECT - PAYMENT
Create a new decision tree by leveling up the way you think about alignment and what I call payoff-timing (personally and professionally).
Don't work towards the goal. Work from the goal.
Live the dream now and make money in a way that supports that dream from the start.
The secrets of the old school one-on-one may be the most powerful coaching of all time.
...and yet.
It feels like coaching is a lost art even though it's never been more popular.
Ever.
Personalizations is so rare now with courses and FB ads.
Nothing wrong with mainstream mass marketing, but give me some soul!
For real.
The "experts" didn't get to where they are without one-on-one.
No one seems to have the time to give proper attention to a person any more... anyways...there is a balance and there is a time and a place.
You can obvi do mass marketing and courses and masterminds and trainings and and and but but but...but a coach should really want to give you special attention, special treatment, care.
Masterminds, trainings, retreats are not coaching.
I'll say it again because it makes me laugh to say it again. :-)
Masterminds, trainings and retreats are not coaching.
There may be components of a mastermind, training or retreat where coaching comes into play, but it's not coaching.
So what?
The language we use changes our behavior, approach and ultimately results.
Coaching is one of many arrows you might use in you quiver of helpful tactics.
So, the masterminds, the books, the trainings, the consulting...and yes(!)...the coaching.
Do them.
AND...
Pick the people you want to teach you in your life very carefully.
It's not a lesson learned until it's a behavior changed.
P.S. You should already know the value of this stuff I offer every once in a while if you're on my list and have read my books or articles, etc. If not (you're new), here are some testimonials . Here a super old Forbes article on some of my work so you can see I've been at this for a while. ;-) I can't promise you your future or future income, but I can promise you that things are gonna change in the future for better or worse. I actually care. My goal is to help you get the set up for a decade of dynamic change, starting now. It's custom based on your needs.
I'm bored of boring offers by boring "experts."
I'm also a little grossed out by gross marketing.
This is fun for me. :-)
Opportunities come and go, but if you do nothing about them so will you.
Hope this newsletter helps you make waves. :-)
Remember that there are increasing opportunity costs. For realz. Let's go!
