5 Things I Don't Do As A Home Stager

  1. Declutter a seller’s house.?

Don’t get me wrong all houses need decluttering, but that’s not for me to do. Clutter makes spaces appear smaller and distracts potential buyers from appreciating the property's features. Decluttering has to be done way before the home gets staged.?

  1. Stage for the seller's taste.?

The goal of home staging is to create a neutral and appealing environment that showcases a property’s best assets and resonates with potential buyers. Staging for the seller's specific taste can limit the property's appeal and make it difficult for buyers to imagine themselves living there. It's crucial to depersonalize the space and create a more universally appealing atmosphere.

  1. Overstage.?

While it's important to create an attractive and inviting atmosphere, overdoing it with excessive decor can make a space feel cluttered and overwhelming.?

  1. Ignore the target buyer. Understanding the ideal buyer demographic for a property is essential in effective home staging. Ignoring the target buyer means failing to tailor the staging to their preferences and lifestyle, potentially missing out on capturing their interest. By considering the target buyer's needs and aspirations, I can create a space that resonates with them and increases the chances of a successful sale.

  1. Lower my price because someone wants bargain staging. In home staging, you get what you pay for. If you want your space staged with dollar store decor, go for the untrained bargain stager. I’m not for you.?

If you want to ELEVATE your home or listing, and portray it in a way that potential buyers aspire to, then lowering my price won’t get you there.

In addition, bargain pricing attracts clients who do not fully appreciate the importance and return of professional home staging, and aren’t committed to investing in maximizing their property's appeal.

Those are not my people.?

My people want to optimize their home’s potential, they want their property to stand out in marketing materials, and ultimately want to sell for more than they would if they sold their home ‘as is’.?

My people understand that the talent, experience and level of service that transforms a house into a home that buyers put at the top of their “must see list”, does not exist at a bargain price.?
