5 Things on Friday #6 - 5 Handy ArcGIS Tips
Glenn Letham
Partner Network Community Manager. Thoughts and inspiration are my own.
Welcome to another 5 Things on Friday where I share 5 cool and / or handy things that any ArcGIS user or person involved in doing business in the ArcGIS / Esri ecosystem will benefit from. Oh, and FYI, EPC and DevSummit take place in a little over a week... have you made travel plans yet or will you opt for digital access?
Story Maps for Non-Profits
To begin, let me share some work being done by an Esri Business partner company, and good friend of mine from San Diego-based Bay Park Data Solutions. They specialize in working with non-profits and providing them with map-based, geographic-aware solutions (mobile apps, Story Maps, ArcGIS, Survey123 integration etc...), and they are actually one of the first Esri business partners to secure the non-profit Specialty designation! Just this week they've deployed a StoryMap for Donner Historical Society to recreate the rescue of the Donner Party (near Lake Tahoe) 175 years ago.??This involves live tracking with Garmin GPS (which writes to an ArcGIS Online feature layer) and posting photos using Survey123. Nice stuff BPDS! ?See the story map HERE
EPN on Esri Community
Something new for Esri partners, emerging business startups, and would-be partners. We've added another resource where you can stay informed, connect with other partners, and also reach the Esri / ArcGIS user community at-large! The EPN on Esri Community. Look for tips, partner related activities, events information, benefits of partnering, partnering success strategies and more. This is also a great place to share your successes and benefits of doing business as an Esri partner.? You can find the resource at https://community.esri.com/t5/esri-partner-network/ct-p/esri-partner-network
Presentation to the Esri Community from Jack
Recall, on Feb 22 Esri held a Special Presentation for the Esri Federal GIS Community: The Geographic Approach and GIS—Integrating Our Nation. In the session, Esri President, Jack Dangermond, spoke about how geospatial infrastructure and the geographic approach are integrating our nation and he shared work from the federal GIS community. Special guest Gina McCarthy, White House National Climate Advisor, shared how the Biden administration?has committed to a whole-of-government approach to the climate crisis. Mapping the Conflict in the Ukraine
Map credit: Janes
We are all shocked at the latest events taking place in The Ukraine and our thoughts are with all the people affected, in particular the refugees that are on the move, running for their lives! Of interest, if you want to stay informed of how the invasion unfolded, Janes has been keeping tabs and recording the movement and advancement of the Russian military. It's shocking to see how this has unfolded and additionally frightening to see the movement of Russia's military with the Ukraine territory. Jane's has maps of these movements as well as a visual of where airstrikes have occurred (See image above). See more HERE
Well, thanks for listening and for subscribing to my almost weekly update. Hopefully I shared at least one useful thing with you! I'll be away next week so it will be a couple of weeks before I come at you again. Those of you off to Palm Springs for Dev, I look forward to reconnecting with you in person! Cheers.
