5 Things Every Copywriter Hears Clients Say

There is no denying it. 2020 has been one for the history books. I mean, you literally couldn't have written it if you had a crystal ball. Significant life events can throw us off our A-game; especially if you're a small business owner trying to keep your passion alive through it all!

As a writer and creative, I try to make the most out of a bad situation and turn it into a keepsake, choosing to take my experiences and write about the journey. In fact, turning a situation I didn't expect into an opportunity to try something new is EXACTLY how I found myself helping small businesses.

If lockdown 2.0 has thrown you and your business through a loop, you're not alone. Keeping customers engaged with copy that catches their eye can be tough right now. Lots of my clients share the same concerns when it comes to writing about their business, so I've listed 5 things I hear from clients most often, to help you decide if its time to ask for help.

1. "It's so hard to write about the business when you're in it everyday!"

I get it, I really do. It's hard to see clearly when you're caught up in the day to day. As a small business (ESPECIALLY right now), just getting through the day and delivering a good service to your customers is a win.

That's why a copywriter is a worthwhile investment when you're thinking about how to breathe new life into your website, or write a series of emails for your upcoming marketing campaign.

2. "I tried somebody before and they just didn't "get" us."

Oh no, no, no. Shame on you! Just kidding. Sort of. Why didn't you voice your concerns to the copywriter? More importantly, why didn't they check that you were satisfied?

I like to think of myself as a maverick when it comes to words. I'm so confident in my ability to understand you and the message you want to convey I offer all of my clients free revisions for EVERY piece of work I complete. No extra charge.

3. "We know what we want to say to our customers, we're just not sure how to convey the message."

You don't want to come off too 'salesy'. Your customers are important and adding value to their day whilst ensuring they can see a clear process, going from micro- commitment to transaction is key. You didn't ever see writing well to sell as part of the gig. So don't let it take the fun out of what you do! Give it to someone that lives and breathes writing and research.

4. "Where do I start? It feels so overwhelming."

Let's start together. Rewriting pages on your company website, (the one you haven't touched since that fly- by- night web designer you employed) set it up several years ago can seem VERY overwhelming.

I want to get to know you. Book me in for a FREE discovery call and let's talk creativity and inspiration.

5. "THANK YOU! Can we collaborate again?"

The words I love to hear the most! It provides me with pure joy when a one- off project becomes a lifetime partnership. Community over competition. I see you. I support you and I'm here to help as many women in business SUCCEED as I can.

What are you waiting for? Let's go!
