5 Takeaways from CWS

A common theme I kept hearing about at this year’s CWS Summit was innovation happening in the industry and complexities and growth of options on how work is done from CW to SOW to offshore to nearshore to on-demand talent pools to leveraging AI. That reminds me that—even in this new world of work—there is still basic infrastructure and piping that remains, and that requires even more diligence in compliance to avoid the exposures on workforce classification and verification.? It’s why we invested in Independantly.ai to help clients with workforce classification across all these new platforms and work options.

Seeing old friends and making new connections also reminded me that by working together, we as contingent workforce, human resources, and DEI professionals can make work a better place.

As the CEO of HireTalent for 20 years, I’ve made driving inclusion in the staffing world my mission, and our partners have stepped onboard to help bring that mission closer to a reality. And as the founder of Consciously Unbiased, I witnessed how purpose and passion could launch a movement to help build belonging at organizations across industries—from banking to tech to nonprofits. This has shown me the power of collaboration to drive positive change.

This was our 12th year as a sponsor at the CWS Summit, and I’m so happy we come together in person each year, share our ideas, and pave the way for where the industry is going next. Here is a look back at some of our biggest moments and takeaways from CWS 2024.

Working in wellness. For the first time ever, we hosted a HireTalent Pilates class led by our very own certified Pilates instructor Belissa Savery. We wanted to start the conference on a healthy note, because sometimes you need to slow down in order to speed up. Everyone who attended received a HT/CU branded Pilates mat to keep as a reminder of their commitment to wellness.

Winning some recognition. I don’t want to brag (well maybe just a little), but the HireTalent team is winning (awards). A big thanks to Magnit for naming Hiretalent for the 2024 Global Supplier Excellence Award for going above and beyond in contingent labor.

And another thank you to HireGenics s for giving HireTalent - Diversity Staffing & Recruiting Firm alent the 2024 Diversity Initiative Award to acknowledge us as a DEIB provider with purpose and ROI for our clients making a positive impact.? Hosting our annual #CWS dinner, this year with Curately.ai . Our annual dinner has always been focused on closing out the conference with connecting, not selling. We are grateful to our partner Curately.ai for sharing our passion for inclusion and making the night one to remember.

Investing in solutions. I’m excited to announce that HireTalent has invested in Independently.ai (and I’m now on the board of advisors), an AI-powered platform to make it easy for enterprises and staffing agencies to comply with employment and tax laws across the globe.

Sharing on roundtables. Sharing knowledge is how we keep on growing. I loved hosting an Oil and Gas roundtable with Jeff Nugent , Managing partner with Consciously Unbiased Payroll (fondly known as Payroll Jeff) in Tapfin's suite. Also, HireTalent’s Belissa Savery, CCWP very was on a roundtable talking about how internally managed contingent workforce programs are becoming increasingly popular as organizations seek more control and cost efficiency in their hiring processes—and key things to consider before your organization starts their own.?
