Cutting Costs Through Customer-Centric Models
Coming out of #AHIP2023 , there was a lot of discussion around lowering cost of care. Chief Living Health Development Officer Cynthia Hundorfean, EMBA , discussed reinvesting waste savings into the customer experience for better health outcomes. Chief Medical Officer Tony Farah, MD , reiterated that a customer-centric model, like #LivingHealth , is the key to improving outcomes, reducing costs, and deriving value at scale to change the national health care system .
Care Coming Home
By 2025, $265 Billion worth of care services will shift from traditional care facilities to the home. Senior Vice President of Home and Community Care Monique Reese, DNP , shared how Highmark Health is leading the industry by moving more healing into the home — ultimately increasing convenience, comfort and affordability for customers.?
Using Data to Advance Health Equity
Nebeyou Abebe, senior vice president of social determinants of health (SDOH), discussed how SDOH data collection can improve patient outcomes upstream and target the root cause of health issues. After implementing a Universal SDOH Assessment tool across the enterprise, data showed that food was a tremendous opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of Highmark members both in terms of prevention and disease management. To tackle food insecurity, Highmark Health has been launching a series of initiatives.

Value of Virtual Health
Health care leaders Joshua Elder, MD, MPH , MD, and Joseph Aracri DO , shared how they’re leveraging virtual care to extend the reach, access and effectiveness of clinical care delivery within the context of an integrated customer experience.
