- This week will honestly go down in Knowlton history. So happy!
Thought for the day
SO much work went into the Mr Motivator activation to launch Constant Contact in the UK & it couldn't have gone better!
Honestly, after the team have been tirelessly working on this for weeks, it felt amazing when it all came together so well!
I also learnt some really useful lessons from the day that will hopefully help other marketers like you.
Lesson 1: Stay calm when you face challenges
With activations this big, there are always unexpected challenges you have to overcome. And I was so impressed watching Lloyd & our team overcome one right at the start of the day! The challenge? A large stand selling olives & macaroons was placed exactly where we'd contractually paid to have our activation. Lloyd calmly dealt with this & we managed to find another spot & our team worked incredibly hard to change all the plans we had previously made! It all worked in the end!
Lesson 2: Having a space for the crew to hang was VITAL
We looked at various options of places the large crew could hang out between the 4 activations that were dotted throughout the day. We eventually found a brilliant space above a pub that was in the station. It was so good for everyone to regroup & hang out here!
Lesson 3: The right team & effective preparation create success
This one is self-explanatory. These are the two key factors that made this activation such a success. Our team are honestly brilliant. Lloyd puts so much effort into ensuring we hire the right people (we don't outsource recruitment) & it pays off. That combined with a solid preparation process (refined over years of running campaigns) makes marketing dreams come true.
Lesson 4: Choosing the right talent will make or break your activation
The talent you work with has a pivotal role. If you put in the work to understand how much of a draw they actually have, as well as their appeal to your target market & what they are like to work with, it will give you the best chance of success. From the second Mr Motivator entered the station, we knew he was the right choice. EVERYONE loved him!
Lesson 5: It takes years of hard work to get to this point
I know we all crave the 'quick & easy 3-step process' to do something like this. But that isn't the reality. The years of work our team have put into delivering campaigns have taught us a million lessons that have enabled us to successfully do this. That's just the truth & it doesn't make for great 'hooky' content but I'm here to keep it real.
This is honestly a career highlight for me! What a week! Well done team Knowlton!
