5 super quick ways to liven up your blog posts

We all know the importance of having a blog. It feeds regular content to your website, gives your readers interesting and useful content etc. – but on a basic level, a blog can sometimes end just being a page load of text!

A blog is supposed to attract readers, but it’s also meant to be attractive too – otherwise those website visitors won’t come back to read future posts! So what’s the easiest and fastest ways to liven up your blog posts?

Super quick solution #1: Add images

Images not only help break up solid masses of text, they also help highlight your point, add to your text and make the whole thing look more attractive.

There are several ways you can add images to a blog post:

  • within the blog post, to break up the text
  • as a feature image (puts a large image at the top of your post)
  • to liven up the title ( combine an image with the blog title to create a title image)

Super quick solution #2: Add a download

Lots of websites have a free opt-in download, but what about giving your readers even more – by adding a download to each of your blog posts? It doesn’t have to be something extravagant, just use your existing research and notes to create a little extra. Examples can be:

  • simple checklist
  • blank template for them to fill in
  • summary document or action plan

Super quick solution #3: Use ‘click to tweet’

The ‘Click to Tweet’ plugin allows you to create a simple (and attractive) feature quote box as a tailor-made tweet. Simply install the plugin and it will display a ‘tweet’ icon in the post toolbar. You can then place the cursor in your blog post (where you want the box to be), click on the icon and type out your tweet – the plugin will do the fancy stuff to make it presentable.

Super quick solution #4: Start using subheadings

Subheadings not only help break down lots of text – if used well, they’ll also serve as a quick summary. Readers can surmise the general gist of the post by reading the subheadings – and hopefully, will decide to read in detail.

Super quick solution #5: Change the format

This isn’t quite as quick as the previous solutions, but it is a good tip. Changing the format will not only attract new types of visitor, it can also help those existing ones to see and hear another side of you – thus helping you to build on your relationship with them. Both audio and video posts allow you to show who you are, what you look like and how you sound – all great ways to build on your likeability and build the trust with your readers.
