5 steps to Social Media Success for your business
There is a lot of 'noise' around what works on social media for a business- so if you feel overwhelmed just follow these five simple steps...
1) Pick two platforms that your typical target audience uses and focus your efforts on building them- don't spread yourself too thinly and risk burn out.
2) Connect with and build a targeted audience through these platforms.
This could look like connecting with other businesses on LinkedIn each day (in a targeted fashion) or using your personal FB to friend request connections in your local area- this will be more specific for certain types of businesses in comparison to others.
3) Create content around the needs of your audience in relation to your offering- How can you entertain, inspire or educate them?
Avoid the 'hard sell'- but advertise your offering so people know how your service can help them
4) Be consistent and don't overcomplicate things- you know your brand, you know your business and your values- so communicate this clearly through your posts and don't spend too long making content.
5) Evaluate- always look back and evaluate what is working well and what needs to be tweaked.
Use the various Insights from the different platforms as data to help quantify your efforts- but also bear in mind that some people will still be 'seeing' your posts even if they don't engage with them.
Above all, stay consistent and remember it takes time to build trust and get people to convert into customers from followers- don't be afraid to change things up!
