5 Steps to Live to the Fullest

5 Steps to Live to the Fullest

How long have you been waiting to live the best life that you can live? Are you feeling fulfilled? Are you happy? At your current rate, will you get to do everything you want to do? Or, will you reach the end of your life and experience regret?

Very few individuals make a conscious effort to live their life to the fullest. Too many people decide to get serious about living after pissing a lot of their life away.  Don’t let that be you.

Here are some ideas to make the most out of your days:

  1. Decide what you want. What kind of life do you want to live? What do you want to achieve? What would you like to own? Where do you want to visit? What do you want to see and do?
  2. Set goals to achieve these items. Create goals that will empower you to accomplish the things on your list. You might need to aggressively save to take your family to Disney World, train to run a 5K, or find a communication coach (that’s me :-)) to give that fantastic presentation at work.
  3. Take risks. To live life to the fullest, you can’t tiptoe through life. Some of the things that you want to do might make you nervous and hesitant. If you limit yourself to the things that are comfortable for you to do, you won’t live to your fullest.
  4. Block out the noise. Multiple people will question your decisions. Many might even laugh at you. Who cares?! Seriously. I used to care what people thought of me until I realized that people’s opinions of me don’t feed my children. So, now, the laughter doesn’t matter to me. I would encourage you to ignore anyone that gives you grief. Keep in mind; they don’t know what you know since they don’t have your experiences. Let them laugh.
  5. Protect your time at all costs. Tell me what you want, and then show me your calendar. I’ll be able to tell you in a few seconds if you’re on the path to achieving it. As you know, how you spend your time each day is the ultimate determiner of where you’ll end up in the future. Your time is unbelievably valuable, so protect it at all costs. You wouldn’t dream of filling your car’s gas tank up with trash, but yet so many people tend to fill their calendar up with garbage. No wonder so little ends up getting done. If you say “family first” all the time, prove it. What kind of time do you block off for your family? If you say that you’re passionate about growing your “side hustle,” then prove it. Show me all the hours you’re putting in. Your time is too sacred to waste. I challenge you to fight to prioritize your time.

You don’t need to utilize any of these ideas in an extreme way right off the bat. You can start small. Tiny, incremental growth over time can have a profound impact on your life. Want to write more? Start out writing for 10 mins a day and expand from there. Want to lose weight? Walk around your block a few times and add more time from there. Want to spend more quality time with your family? Put your phone down and play a board game on Friday nights. Once you succeed with the “mini-bites,” it will end up becoming an addiction (yes, some addictions can be positive), and you will do more and more. Before you know it, you’ll be able to accomplish more than you ever thought possible.
