Talent, Leadership: SYSTRA, an #engineering and #consulting firm specializing in public transport and mobility solutions, has named?Riona Ainge?as #sustainability lead. Four things to know... 1. Business Scope and Scale: Systra, founded in 1957, is based in Paris, France. The company has roughly 11,000 employees across 80 countries. Systra engineers and consultants help cities to create, improve and modernize their transport infrastructure. Annual sales were €1.1 billion (US$1.2 billion) in 2023. 2. Sustainability Goals: Systra is striving to reduce Scope 1 and 2 by 42% and Scope 3 by 25% (by 2030 compared to 2022), according to the company's 2023 sustainability report. Also, Systra UK & Ireland is striving to become #NetZero for its entire #carbonfootprint by 2035. The company's sustainability mission has four pillars: (1) Social purpose, (2) climate action, (3) responsible business and (4) environmental stewardship. 3. Riona Ainge's Experience and Role: Ainge now leads Systra's sustainability efforts, "focusing on reducing carbon footprint and broadening social value," the company said. According to her LinkedIn bio, Ainge joined Systra in 2000 as an assistant environmental analyst and then rose to consultant in 2022. More recently, she was Sustainability Manager for the Balfour Beatty Vinci SYSTRA JV, working on the delivery of Old Oak Common Station (OOC), the company said. 4. Data Centers:?A Scala Data Centers?and the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul have signed a letter of intent that sets the stage for a large infrastructure project in South America. The effort, known as?Scala #AI City, represents an initial investment of?US$500 million?(around?BRL 3 billion) in the first phase alone. The project will create Brazil's first #datacenter industrial district. Scala Data Centers typically leverage #renewableenergy and various sustainable designs. 4. Launch:? FutureScaleX has launched the?FSX Insights Energy Transition Platform, which "addresses the electrification of industrial heat, identifying available technologies that need support in policy, technology, economics, supply chain, and digital transformation," the company said. 5. AI and Energy Consumption:?In a blog, Mark Russinovich, CTO and technical fellow for #MicrosoftAzure, describes how Microsoft is "advancing the power and energy efficiency of AI." 6. Potential IPO (Initial Public Offering):?A Diginex, an ESG software provider, filed with the #SEC to?raise up to $11 million in an #IPO, Renaissance Capital LLC reported. 7. M&A - Consulting:? Exowatt has launched?Exowatt P3,?a modular energy solution (spanning solar and storage technologies) that's "designed to meet the growing power demands of data centers and energy-intensive industries." Exowatt is a high-profile startup backed by such investors as a16z, Atomic, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. 7. Partnership - IT Services and Energy Services:?A Capco Energy Solutions and ESG are partnering?to help "energy companies modernize and upgrade their legacy platforms." Capco, part of global IT consulting company Wipro, often serves?retail energy suppliers and utilities. ESG provides SaaS-based energy solutions. 8. Partnership - Software:? ArcVera, founded in 2017, is headquartered in Golden, Colorado. The company generated revenue of €6.5 million (US$7.2 million) in 2023. Bureau Veritas, founded in 1828, is based in Courbevoie, France. The company provides inspection, certification, and laboratory testing services.
