BREAKING INTO A MEDICARE SALES CAREER
We’re going to give you the five steps to get into the hottest market insurance right now: Medicare. With over 11,000 people every day becoming Medicare eligible, there’s never been a better time to hop in. And if you don’t know the best starting point, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s our five steps on how to break into the Medicare market.
WORK WITH AN FMO – FIELD MARKETING ORGANIZATION
The first step to breaking into a Medicare sales career is working with a field marketing organization, commonly known in the industry as an FMO. Simply put, you cannot work in the Medicare market without an FMO. Their design is to assist you through the entire process of onboarding and selling.
Neishloss & Fleming, LLC is conveniently a great resource in getting started – N&F will talk to you about everything that you need to get started in this market.
BECOME LICENSED TO SELL HEALTH INSURANCE
Your second step is getting your health insurance license. This may be one of the more obvious for some, but for many it might not be. (Author’s note: Guilty admission… I didn’t know this originally). To be able to sell, you need to have a health insurance license.
If you need help with that, reach out to us. We’ve got a great partner to get you that license fast with our state-of-the-art pre-licensing course. It also provides options to serve clients better with call recording, dashboard and reporting, as well as a mobile app.
KNOW YOUR MARKET
The third step: Know your market. When you’re first starting out, one of the hardest things to do in this market is to become an expert with every carrier around. It’s recommended to find a small competitive core group of carriers and learn about them before adding on. That will keep you on track and be less confused while you’re still new.
We can show you the most competitive carriers in your market. One of the most effective tools in gaining this advantage is the Medicare center. Medicare Center provides lead management, side-by-side comparisons, and integrated quoting and enrollment, as well as call recording, dashboard and reporting, and a mobile app.
CONTRACTING
Step number four. Now that we’ve identified the carriers that we want to add to your portfolio, now we’ve got to contract with them. Request the New Agent Contracting and Appointment kit from companies you wish to service, complete the paperwork, and return them to the insurance company.
Contracting can sometimes seem like a daunting, tiresome task when you’re new. But fortunately for you, we’ve got some of the best tools and staff to assist you. We’ve got online contracting tools to get you up and running quickly, as well as an entire service department to walk you through each and every step of the process.
MARKETING
And last but certainly not least, step number five, marketing. You’ve got licensed. You’ve learned your new market, you’ve got contracted. Now what? Now you’re ready to market. It’s time to get out into the field and show the world what you’ve got.
Neishloss & Fleming will be riding sidecar with you throughout the entire sales journey to keep you active in the field and demonstrate best practices to getting leads, working referrals, connecting with local market representatives, providing custom marketing support, and teaching you the ins-and-outs of grassroots marketing. No matter what kind of questions you have, we’re here to help support you every step of the way.
