Are you ready to find your next gig and take the tech world by storm? Whether you are a Software Engineer, Product Manager, or Senior Leadership the basics of choosing and preparing for the right role are the same. Here are a few tips to help you narrow down your job search and find the perfect opportunity:
1.?????Figure out what you want: Before you start blindly throwing resumes at every job posting in sight, take some time to think about what you really want. Do you want to work on cutting-edge tech, a greenfield project, or are you more interested in working for a company with an office pet? It's important to know what matters to you.
2.?????Research like a boss: Once you know what you're looking for, start stalking companies like it's your job (wait, it is your job!). Check out their websites, social media, and Glassdoor reviews to get the inside scoop. Try not to be too harsh on reading reviews, remember these are usually subjective and the bad ones might have an agenda behind them.
3.?????Partner with a good recruiter, I had to get a plug in somewhere: Speaking with an agency recruiter could be the best decision you make. First of all, they work for you for free, they take some of the leg work out of finding you an opportunity. Also, they have access to jobs that may not be advertised on job boards. Best of all, the good ones will guide you through the process giving you all the tips and prep you need.

4.?????Is the Juice worth the Squeeze: Before putting effort into interviewing try and get transparency on the salary bands for the role. There is no point wasting 4/5 interviews or hours doing tech tests to find out you are €20k over budget. With the European Parliament voting in favour of adopting the EU’s?pay transparency directive hopefully this will lead to salaries being advertised on job boards.
5.?????Rockstar Engineers need to rock Interviews: Interviews can be nerve-wracking, but they can also be a great learning experience! Do your research, practice your answers, and don't forget to bring your sense of humour. Keep smiling (but not too much) and if you must bring out your inner Hollywood that’s ok too.
In summary, finding the right job can be tough, but it doesn't have to be boring. By knowing what you want, researching companies, networking/partnering with recruiters, getting transparency on salaries, and acing those interviews, you'll be on your way to the job of your dreams. Good luck, and may the interviewing odds be ever in your favour!
