5 Steps to De-Cluttering Your Life

If you want your life to be organized, you need to ensure that you have both time and space to live in. If your lifestyle is hectic, then it’s about time you de-clutter it and eliminate a number of tedious tasks and coming up with a method that allows you to deal with tasks in an orderly way.
So, how do you start de-cluttering? Well, these five tips should do wonders in helping you do so:
1. Start reducing clutter at home.
Admittedly, there is a bit of a hoarder in each and everyone of us. If you disagree, let’s start with the most basic place - where you reside. Are there things being stored in your cabinet or shelves that have not been used for the longest time? Take a good look at your home and critically determine which things you need and which you can discard or give to another person who actually needs it. If you want, you could even hold a garage sale and earn extra income from things you’ve kept for so long.
Once you’ve eliminated these things, you will see and feel a big difference. For starters, your home would have more space and actually start to feel like a haven where you can rest, relax and take your mind off stress after a hard day’s work. Now, isn’t that what a home is suppose to be in the first place?
2. Determine which activities aren’t making you productive.
The big irony is although we have so much happening in our lives, we still end up wasting a little of our time every now and then. This obviously needs to stop and you can do so by determining which among your regular activities aren’t really productive.
This takes some discipline on your part but you do need to put an end to this before it becomes a habit. Maybe you don’t realize it but a lot of your time, not to mention money, can be saved by eliminating silly habits that are useless in the first place.
3. Spend time with people who make you happy.
Take a moment to reflect on the kind of people you hang out with. Are they giving positive impact on your life? Are they a good influence in terms of how you view your life and things happening around you? If they are people who have negative outlooks, then it’s about time you hang out more with those who project a positive aura.
You see, the people you hang around with can influence you greatly. In fact, more than you probably realize so if you want to live happily, with less feeling of excess baggage on your back, be with people who see things in a positive light, promoting joy, hope and love in what they do.
4. Lessen the your list of things to do to finish them.
So, you’ve listed ten tasks on your to-do list but you’ve noticed that this seems to be the number of things you have to do everyday now. This can pose problems with the time you have to do for each task as there would be some who would take more time than the other.
In such scenario, you’d never get things done on time so instead of playing superwoman without much success, try doing a de-clutter procedure on your list and reduce your tasks; thereby making sure that you can concentrate while working on them and more importantly, actually finish them. You could also go an extra step and arrange your lists by category for even better organization.
5. Be clear about your goals and do them without procrastinating.
If your goals aren’t even clear enough to begin with, then how can you be productive enough in working on the ways to achieve them? This lack of goal definition play a key role in determining the success of the completion of your goal; hence, make sure that no lack of clarity is going to hold you back.
Furthermore, once you’ve already clearly set your goals, concentrate on doing the tasks you have to accomplish them. Do not procrastinate as this can only lead your work to eventually pile up again and what you have de-cluttered before would only end up going to waste.
Well, such tips have surely helped in making me de-clutter my life. What about you? Do you agree with them or do you also have your own to share? Comment below and tell me your thoughts. I'd love to hear about them.
