5 steps to consistent leads on LinkedIn

As we start the year off, I wanted to share some key steps and tools to help you start generating consistent leads on LinkedIn.
I know from my own network that we can start with great intentions, but get a little off-track. Do you ever notice that when the actions lead to success, you forget to continue them?
What I mean - I see someone posting regularly on their LinkedIn, sending out their weekly email and suddenly because they have so much work coming in, they forget to continue the actions that lead them there in the first place.
Guilty of this myself!
So here are five steps to get you into a habit this year on LinkedIn - remember, when you start getting those sales in the door, either set your marketing on autopilot with scheduling tools or outsource to a company like ours to keep it moving in the background.
1. Get the foundations in order
Optimise your profile. Set up your Company Page. Take a half day and just get it done.
2. Post content to demonstrate your expertise
We are all expert at something! Be strategic. Write content that attracts your ideal client. Come at this from a place of service, and don't patronise your audience (yup, I see you)
?Why not use storytelling to make your posts more engaging? One of the best ways to do this is if you are giving an example of how you've worked with somebody, drop in a real life example.
You can use AI to work out the key topics you think your audience might be interested in. But DO NOT USE AI TO WRITE IT FOR YOU. Please.
3. Build a network of value
One of the biggest gripes I hear from people in our discovery calls, is that they find LinkedIn 'boring' or 'facebooky these days'. The good news is that this is something you have full control over. Stop following people who post their Friday drinks pictures. Start commenting on the posts you do enjoy, and the algorithm will show you more of this stuff.
Unfollow people in your network if you don't like what they share or if it is no longer relevant to where you are in your professional life now. I rarely disconnect from someone in my network - you never know who they might be connected to or who could see your post and share it with others.

Don't rush this part. Connect with a handful of people everytime you are on LinkedIn and soon you will have a great network of people who are interesting, and could be interested in your content. Fingers crossed.
4. Start using LinkedIn messaging
It turns out the fortune really is in the follow up. When you connect with someone, add a note or send them a message once they accept your connection request. This is not your opportunity to pitch them your services. This is a way to have a one-to-one human interaction with someone. Behave as though you just met them at a business event. Normal people like it when you ask them about their business/post/video.
Messaging does work wonderfully when you have an event like a webinar coming up. Or you have a newsletter you share. It is quite natural to let someone know you will be hosting a webinar on a particular topic next week, and ask them if they'd like to attend.
I like to ask permission first - for example, "I am hosting a webinar on LinkedIn video next week - would you like me to send you an invitation to join?" rather than sending them the link to sign up without introducing it first.
5. Use the tools you have available
We love using LinkedIn events, LinkedIn livestreams and LinkedIn Newsletters.
I use StreamYard to set up my events and livestreams. Once you set up a LinkedIn live, you can invite your network to join via the Event that is generated on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Newsletters can be sent from your personal profile or your Company Page. I love how they show up in a person's inbox, outside of LinkedIn. In this world of TikToks and short viral clips, it turns out a lot of people DO like long formcontent like blogs, newsletters and videos. As long as they are helpful. Which I hope this has been.
Repurpose Your Content
As with our clients, we create one piece of pillar content that can be taken and used multiple times. This newsletter is a synopsis of my video below:
The content will also be used to create short LinkedIn posts and the video can be chopped up into five shorter video clips for our company page.
Reduce (your effort), Reuse and Recycle!
Please do feel free to share your thoughts below and let me know what is working for you right now on LinkedIn.
