5 STEPS FOR BECOMING MORE EMOTIONALLY AWARE

In this week’s Newsletter, I explore some effective strategies to awaken your more emotionally aware self.

Emotional awareness means knowing and understanding your feelings and being aware of how others feel.

It's not just recognizing emotions, but also figuring out why you feel a certain way.

This skill helps in having better relationships, talking better with others, and feeling good overall.

Step 1: Recognize your feelings by focusing on your thoughts and sensations.

?Imagine putting your feelings on a 1 to 5 mood scale, where 1 is the most negative feeling and 5 the most positive one.

?

Step 2: ?Understand why you feel a certain way.

?Ask yourself if something specific triggered the emotion, like an event or a person in your life.

?

Step 3: Label your emotion by finding the right words.

?Be specific.

?If it helps, write down the emotion and why you're feeling that way.

?

Step 4: Express your feelings, but do it in a way that doesn't hurt others on purpose.

Find a healthy outlet or someone to talk to for support.

?

Step 5: Regulate your emotions by thinking of ways to cope in the long run.

Practice positive self-talk, try activities like yoga or mindfulness, exercise, or use breathwork – whatever works for you!?


Paying attention to our feelings and understanding why we feel a certain way can make a big difference.

By using tools like labeling our emotions, expressing them, and finding ways to cope, we can have better relationships and feel better about ourselves.

It's like learning to understand and take care of our emotions for a happier and healthier life.
