Confidence is everything. Sometimes confidence is enough to overcome the direst of situations to reach a place where you can call your life a success. However, confidence is an underrated concept in today’s times primarily because we believe confidence is something we are born with; we do not attain it. Here I would like to get to your notice that confidence is an attribute of a human life that increases and decreases with one’s life experiences and knowledge. You cannot call yourself a confident person until and unless you have gone through the ups and downs in your life.
What is the definition of Confidence?
According to the Oxford Dictionary confidence is, “the feeling that you can trust, believe in, and be sure about the abilities or good qualities of somebody/something.”
Well, confidence is an assurance in itself that makes you believe in your abilities to achieve or attain something. But the question that arises here is how can one identify if they are confident?
Every time you try to set a goal and achieve it, your attitude reflects the amount of confidence you have in yourself and others. A confident person will always see the positive aspects of a situation and find ways to solve it. In contrast, an under confident human being will generally give in to the situation, leading a hopeless and miserable life.
5 Step Formula to Develop Self-confidence
Self-confidence is achieved with time. Confidence is not something that you acquire in a day or so, it is a process of attaining a positive attitude and faith in yourself. One of the biggest reasons for you to be under-confident is your past experiences. If you are living in your past and have given up on yourself, you will automatically start demining your life as a whole. This is where people go wrong; living in the past has never helped anyone, in fact, it has destroyed bright minds.
I am sure all of you would want to know how one can develop confidence in themselves without losing out on time and great career opportunities. So today, let’s walk through 5 ways to develop self-confidence in oneself.
- The Promise of Persistence and Action
You need to promise yourself that you will persevere and take the correct actions to attain self-confidence on a day-to-day basis. Here the catch is to believe in oneself and one’s ability to be fearless and active enough to challenge oneself.
- Focus on Who You Want to Be
There’s always a person you admire and fascinate to be; however, the challenge is to understand how they have done what they have done to achieve success in their lives. Hence, whenever your mind is clouded with doubt and fear, think of the person you are aiming to be daily for 30 minutes. This will aid you to reach your goal eventually.
- Demand Self-Confidence
Active thought process and the will to achieve your goal will need immense willpower and faith in yourself. Hence, you owe 10 minutes to your life daily for the development of self-confidence. A positive thought process and precise actions will help you to attain confidence.
- Pen Down a Book of Your Aims and Achievements
Write down your aim clearly to focus your energy and effort on it. Read it every day to remind yourself of the amount of self-confidence you need to attain to achieve your aim.
- Purely Believe in Yourself and Others
Until and unless you can believe in yourself and others’ ability to attain success and be a cooperative human being, you’ll never be able to acquire self-confidence. Hence, think of accepting others, and eradicate envy, hatred, and jealousy for others from your life to focus on your aims and goals. This will aid you in gaining a better perspective on life.
To end this discussion, I would like to quote a phrase from the book, Think and Grow Rich; it says, “The subconscious mind makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by FEAR just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by COURAGE, or FAITH.”
