5 Social Media Secrets You Need to Use for Your Business TODAY

If you're not advertising your business on social media, you've already fallen behind. Ninety-four perfect of Canadians are on at least one social media platform, as well at 79% of Americans. There are 2.34 billion social media users globally, and there will be nearly 3 billion by 2020.
And these people aren't online for fleeting status updates - according to Social Media Today, people average 40 minutes a day on YouTube, 35 minutes on Facebook, 25 minutes on SnapChat, and 15 minutes on Instagram. ??
And that's great news for small businesses! TV ads and billboards may be out of reach, but social media certainly isn't. Whether your budget is large or small, it's time to spend your marketing dollars where people's attention is.
I've been working in social media for the last 3 years, and I've come across a few tricks that will be handy to any to any business owner or social media manager.
?? CREATE A STRATEGY. Take the time to think about who will visit your profile, which platforms they are on, and how you can best engage with them. What do they like (beyond your amazing products and services)? Which restaurants do they go to? What's their favorite TV show? Which celebrities do they like? Do they travel? Are they single? The more you understand them, the more you can create content that they relate to.
?? OFFER VALUE. Create a space that people want to spend time in. If eighty percent of your posts entertain, educate, and engage your audience, there's still lots of posts left for promos and product news.
?? INCLUDE A CALL TO ACTION. Give people a opening to respond. Try "what do you think of our new taco salad?" or "are you a dog or a cat person?"
?? USE NEW FEATURES. Platforms encourage people to use their newest features by featuring them prominently. Next time there's a new feature, like lives or stories, give them a try!
?? ALWAYS INCLUDE AN IMAGE. Faces tend to get the most attention. My favorite source for free pictures is www.unsplash.com.
