What does ‘abundance’ mean? It’s not necessarily about feeling rich in purely monetary terms, how much you might be getting paid, or what you’ve got in the bank. We can all feel better and more positive about money and all the things we have. By cultivating a feeling of abundance, we attract more good stuff into our lives. A healthy money mind-set helps us to make better choices and incremental changes in our lives, in order to receive more abundance.
“If you look at what you have in life, you’ll always have more. If you look at what you don’t have in life, you’ll never have enough”?Oprah Winfrey.
Abundance is not about money at all, it’s about the feeling you have about yourself. That you are enough and you have enough. One trick of modern society is to make us believe we’ll feel happier when we become financially richer. Surveys show that’s true up to a point where you earn enough cash to escape a fear of poverty.
Once you reach that point, when you feel secure enough, happiness levels do not then significantly further increase with greater wealth. On average, millionaires are not significantly happier than modestly secure, comfortably off people. So wherever you are right now, feeling more abundant is actually about feeling better in yourself. Here are my tips to feeling more abundant. Try them out for yourself and let me know what works for you.
1. Celebrate your wins
You deserve to feel proud of your first sale, the anniversary of the date you launched your business, or just because of a week well done. Make sure you celebrate in whatever way feels right to you. A glass of something fizzy? A gift to yourself? Release the guilt of being successful! Maybe just by sharing your win by text to a trusted friend is enough to celebrate, but make sure you choose someone who will cheer you on.
2. Use your best stuff
If you’ve got treats that you’re saving for a special occasion, use them now! There’s nothing that says ‘you’re worth it’ more than using the beautiful candles or fancy lotions that you’ve got hidden away. Don’t hoard your good bags or clothes, get them out and start using them now. Use your best bath bombs and take that luxurious hot bath. Get involved in a local clothes swap to bring something new to you, that doesn’t have to cost anything.

3. Practice gratitude
I’ve written about this before?but feeling grateful itself is useful. Even simply writing down things you feel thankful for is a very powerful practice, if you do it every day rather than just once a year. We are surrounded by media and images that tell us we are not good enough (in order to sell us more stuff we don’t need), so by reminding ourselves of all the amazing things we already have, can be very fulfilling. Tell yourself how lucky you are!
4. Feed yourself
Practicing basic self-care can help you feel more relaxed, more abundant. Treat yourself to a hearty soup or a nourishing smoothie. When you’re off your centre, or not feeling 100% badass, eating rubbish won’t make you feel better. Feed yourself the best fruit or veg that you can buy right now – it will make you feel amazing.?More self-care tips.
5. Treat money well
Start putting a fiver in a tin every week. Hide the tin in a drawer. Find that £5 note wherever you need to get it and keep adding that note each week. You’ll know when you’ve done enough. One client told me his wife won £50k and cleared all his debts when he’d been doing this ancient yogic technique to bring abundance. Whether it brings you a windfall or not, you’ll be saving a good amount of cash!
Money ebbs and flows. It’s just an energy. It’s not how much you have but what you do with it that counts.
