5 Simple Steps to Make YOUR Personal Brand Do The Selling For YOUR Coaching Business

Over the years, I’ve met many coaches, from all areas of coaching, who say something similar.

They want more clients, they desperately need more clients.

In fact, they MUST have more clients, in order to sustain their businesses.

Sadly, they all have one thing in common: Zero Business Growth.

In my experience I have found that, in general, many coaches:


?…loathe selling

?…dislike marketing

?…avoid creating engaging content

?…can’t reach their audience

?…struggle to get clients

?…charge less than they are worth

?…don’t have a Value Proposition

?…can’t communicate it persuasively

?…have a weak LinkedIn? profile

?…lack a STAND OUT Personal Brand

?…have no Call To Action

?…are stuck in the status quo

?…regret all of the above

In many ways, coaches get a bad deal. We love what we do, coaching, helping others find their inner strength to become a better version of themselves.

We are stimulated by the power of people-first relationships.

We are energised by the results we help others achieve.

For most coaches, all of this is worth more than the monetary reward we receive for doing our job.

Why? Because coaching is more than a job, it’s our passion, our reason for being, our Ikigai.



So what gives?

Your business gives!

It gives way to lack of attention, low growth motivation, ineffective marketing, poor lead generation, attrition over acquisition, the status quo.

Dare I say, Profit?

Isn’t making a profit what business is all about?

I have met coaches who have started their coaching business simply because they love to coach. Sadly, they have given little thought to how they are going to get clients. Not just the first, second or third client but consistently building and serving a pipeline of new clients.

Build it and they will come?

No, that doesn’t work either. Just because you own a coaching business does not mean that prospects are going to be falling over themselves to find you and engage you.

Even if they wanted to, how would YOUR prospects find YOU?

What would your LinkedIn? profile say about you, your personal brand?

What is your Call To Action?

Does it resonate with your audience?

Is it compelling them to take the next step?



Dislike Marketing

My coaching friends often say:

“Sorry Carl, I simply don’t like all that marketing hype, I can see right through it"

Yes, you can!

Coaches are experts in human psychology and you can see a marketing pitch being telegraphed before it has even happened.

But your prospects won’t!

This is often a challenge to accept but whether you like it or not, marketing really is the pathway to business growth.

How you market your coaching business does not have to be salesy!



Undervalued

In my opinion, coaches are some of the most undervalued professionals out there.

Based on the life-changing impacts a coach can enable their clients to deliver, they are often paid a mere fraction of what they are worth.

Some coaches even do it for free!

Our passion for coaching often means that getting paid what we are worth often takes second place to getting paid at all.

When coaches tell me what they charge their clients, compared with the impacts they have helped their clients deliver, the coach’s financial reward is a mere fraction of the value of the impact their clients receive. Less than 1% in many cases.



Freedom Number

Do you know your Financial Freedom Number?

This is not simply the amount of income you need to pay your living expenses.

This is the income you need to give you freedom to do the things in life that you want to do.

It’s not about surviving, it’s about LIVING your life, your way.

You may want to spend more time with family, spend time travelling, spend time hiking in the mountains, spend time cooking your favourite food.

Time!

Time is the most valuable gift, yet we willingly sacrifice it for financial reward, just to pay the bills.

But we can always earn more money, simply by accelerating your coaching businesses, but we cannot earn more time.

Value Proposition

When I ask coaches to tell me their Value Proposition, most struggle to put it into words.

Doing so with simplicity and clarity is often a non-starter.

Explaining who their audience is, what they do, why they do it, the pains and blockers they face, is a challenge to articulate, simply, with clarity and confidence.

But this is their prospects’ WHY.

Knowing the WHY of your prospects and customers is fundamental to starting and growing any business.

When your prospects ask themselves, “What’s in it for me?”, your Value Proposition will be their answer.

Your Value Proposition is the Operating Manual for your business. It’s your reason for being in business.
