5 signs your website needs a redesign

With the start of the new year, its time to tackle those projects that we have been putting off for far too long.

And one of those projects that often gets pushed under the table in busy times is your website.

It's easy to let your website grow stagnant while you focus on other business matters, but the truth is your website is becoming an ever growing piece of your business, your brand and your marketing strategy.

That is why I have to put together 5 signs that will tell you that it is time to give your website an update.

1) You are embarrassed to send potential customers & partners to your website

This is red flag number 1. If your website is more of an embarrassment than a marketing tool then you know you have a problem.

Your website is your little corner of the web. This is your place to make a mark and put forth presence that you are proud of.

That way when you hand out a business card, you won't have to be worried about them seeing your website.

2) Your website doesn't reflect your business as it exists today

One of the biggest problem with websites is that many business owners don't know how to update them.

As a result, their website becomes stagnant and doesn't reflect the changing positioning or structural differences of the business.

Your business will evolve over time, and your website must evolve with it.

3) Your website is not mobile friendly

Try this little test.

Open your website on your cell phone.

How does it look? Is it easy to navigate or do you have to pinch and zoom around to click on tiny little links?

Then try this, visit https://www.jake-jorgovan.com on your cell phone.

See how the menu works at the top, see how everything fits on the page and is easy to read.

Modern websites are built on what is called 'responsive' templates. This means that they will respond to whatever device size they are on.

That could be a mobile phone, a tablet or a different sized computer screen.

Responsive design has become a standard for websites.

Is your website responsive?

4) You can't easily update your website

Maybe your web designer bailed on you.

Maybe they gave you all of the details on how to update your site but that was three years ago and now you have no clue what to do.

If you can't easily update your website, then that is a major problem.

As your business changes and evolves, you need that flexibility to make quick changes to your website whenever you need them.

New platforms called 'Content management systems' make it extremely easy for you to log-in and update your website without writing or looking at any code.

If you can't update your own website, then it is time for a rebuild.

5) Your website isn't generating you new business

At the core, all websites are focused around a primary objective of growing your business, brand or impact in one way or another.

If your website isn't helping you meet your business objectives, then you may need more than a facelift.

You may need a marketing strategy that will help you turn your website into a lead and cash generating machine.

Don't fall behind

Websites are powerful tools if used properly.

They have the ability to grow your business, and change your perception in powerful ways.

Don't fall behind. Give your website a facelift and start planning your online strategy for 2015 now.
