5 Signs Your Roommate Doesn't Like You
Living with someone else is not always the easiest thing. Whether it’s your friend, spouse or a random person you met online, you’ll most likely have your differences. Sometimes it’s worth working through but if your roommate is constantly finding a reason to pick fights it might be a sign that they don’t like you very much. Need some more clarity? Here are 6 signs your roommate doesn’t like you.
You’re Uncomfortable In Your Own Home
Do you notice sudden anxiety or uneasiness when you’re roommate walks in? Do you sometimes find it hard to relax when they’re around? Sometimes our bodies react or catch on to certain signals before we’re able to process them. Feeling uncomfortable or anxious around a person might be your body’s way of telling you that they don’t like you.
Lack of communication
When you find your self only talking to someone you share a living space with via text it might be a sign they don’t like talking to you. Pay attention to their reaction when you try to start a conversation. How do they respond? If they immediately leave at the first sign of any interaction with you it might be time to get a new roommate.
They Never Tell You Their Guests Are Coming Over
If you’re constantly being woken up in the middle of the night by your roommate and a group of friends behind them it’s obvious that they don’t respect you. The least they could do is text you or give you a heads up.
The Invisible Roommate
If your roommate is never home, it could mean one of two things: Either they lead a busy and full life and aren’t home much or they’re not home much because they’re actively avoiding you.
You Have To Bend Your Life Around Theirs
If you find your self constantly having to bend over backwards to make the living situation work it’s because they don’t care about you or what you’re sacrificing. If they never go out of their way to make your life easier, and yet you find yourself doing it for them all the time they probably don’t like you very much.
How to Handle Roommate Problems
If you see signs your roommate doesn’t like you, try to talk to them about it out. Its normal for Roommates to argue and annoy each other. It’s bound to happen in any dynamic. And no one is saying you have to be best friends. But that doesn’t mean you can’t resolve things amicably.
